Sex in the last few weeks..

Does sex only bring on labour if you are ready to go into labour anyway... (Like a sweep!!)

Just wondered really.

I have also had friends say that for thelast few weeks they went with out sex and as the edd approached they went for it , and low and behold went into labour.. is this because they were ready, or because the suddenly got the relevant hormnones going again..

You would think I would know this being my 3rd pg!!!

My poor dh I feel raring to go one minute.. then now I dont want it the next.. I keep thinking that if I hold of it will help closer to the time.... ( I am 36+2)

its sperm that kicks off labour, and only if you are ready, so you fine - go for it!

I will /would/want to just need the energy now.. will tell dh I need lots of naps.. so that I have the energy, once the other two have gone to bed.... (providing he gets in from work at a reasonable time! to watcht he kids..! lol)

We did it constantly right up to the day before I went into hospital to be induced, think you have to be ready.

Worked for me at 38wks, bouncy on-top sex followed with a bath and some nipple twiddling. (Had been having contractions for 2wks though, had absolutely had enough!)

Cripes, it's the last thing I feel like... but if DP suggested an evening sorting through the huge pile of filing I'd be well up for it

It will help get things going - but only if you are more or less ready anyway. Semen contains prostoglandins which help to ripen the cervix. So for best effect you need deep penetration (bum on a pillow works well) and stay there for a bit afterwards to let the semen pool around your cervix. A bit like what got you into that condition in the first place! Also it is rumoured that the prostoglandins in semen work best when taken orally. I will let you draw your own conclusions from that one. And some people suggest evening primrose oil capsules up your fanjo and allowed to dissolve do a similar job but I think evidence is mixed on that one.
