Herpes in early pregnancy

Hello-I'm new to this. I was diagnosed with HSV2 five years ago and had an outbreak during week 7 of my pregnancy. I am very worried that this has impacted the health of my pregnancy, especially as I have had early miscarriages in the past. Has anyone on this thread with recurrent herpes had experiences with an outbreak during the first trimester and gone on to have a successful pregnancy? I'm really having a hard time with this, so any insight would be a huge help.

Hello, I know it’s an anxious time give your history but you don’t need to worry.
Herpes (recurrent or otherwise) has no impact on risk of miscarriage or on foetal development.
Nor will taking antiviral medication eg aciclovir if you need it.
There will be hundreds of thousands of women with herpes who’ve had outbreaks in early pregnancy and gone on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies so please don’t panic

Hiya, I also have herpes and had an outbreak early on, around 9 weeks. I took my aciclovir as I normally would (this was my third outbreak ever) and I'm now 26 weeks pregnant with no issues. They may put you on a preventive dose towards the end of your pregnancy to stop it flaring up while you're giving birth :)

I had a few outbreaks in early pregnancy- probably hormonal changes or something causing them. I have a lovely three week old snuffling in the Moses basket next to me. My midwives told me they are not concerned about herpes unless you contract it for the first time in pregnancy. They would give you aciclovir if you had it right at the end of your pregnancy.
Good luck Smile
