When does the tiredness come back?

I am now 26 weeks and it would be fair to say exhausted. I still have another 6 weeks left at work and I am frankly knackered

I only seem to have had 3 weeks of feeling great and I am slipping back into sickness and tired. Is this normal?

I guess everyone is different - mine lasted upto about 14 weeks then never really came back.

I gave up work at 36 weeks - which is when I think it usually comes back - but it didn't seem that bad as I had high blood pressure and was told to rest - which I did!! So lots of lie-ins, afternoon naps etc - ooh fond memories....

My tiredness comes and goes. One week I can be completely exhausted and the next fine. For me I guess it depends on what I've been doing. I do tend to get tired really quicky when I do things so a busy week doesn't help. My tip would be to relax when you can- go to bed when you feel like it, and as soon as you start maternity leave there is nothing more satisfying then an afternoon nap! (I have to say I tend to sleep better in the afternoon then in the night!)
Hope the tiredness passes soon.

I'm with PrincessPower, tiredness comes and goes though it's fair to say that it mostly comes - a day here and there when i'm full of beans, most days tired, some, like yesterday, completely knackered. (i'm 32 weeks today). Afternoon naps are a godsend. But, I liked them before pregnancy. Guess I'm just lazy.

It is good to know that I am not just making it up. People make you feel like your should be blooming and loving every minute of it etc etc. I don't hate it but finding it very hard work. Baby is doing well and has been growing alot in the last few weeks which I think has alot to do with it.

Took yesterday off work because I was so tired I was sick three times before 9.00 and just decided to give in. Slept for most of the morning which was bliss.

Come back to work today and I swear I could sleep standing up. Haven't been sick yet but so tired I really could be.

I am thirty weeks today and have been exhausted for the past week and a half. I didn't bloom either and have felt slightly under the weather the whole time I have been pregnant except for a few short lovely weeks.

Managing to stay working by going to bed early and trying to stay well hydrated and active (without exercising) during the day. It is amazing what a difference water makes.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hiya - you are me a week ago!! I posted the exact same question. I am 25+4 today and all of a sudden about 10 days ago, I felt absolutely wrung out! Not as tired as first trimester, but not great either.
Good news is that it has passed and this week I am feeling great again. What I did to feel better;

  • took day off work and rested.
  • started taking some spatone on the advice of my midwife
  • generally put my feet up once home from work and let DH do all the day to day stuff.

Just listened to my body and I feel great now. Am sure it wont last and some weeks the tiredness will be there, but i know what to do. Hope you feel better soon

oh and p.s. get your iron levels tested by your doc/ midwife. Mine came back 11.5 which is fine but i was still advised to keep taking the spatone and thankfully needed nothing any stronger.

cupcake78 · 19/06/2007 15:04

I had my Iron level tested and it was 11.2 which I was told was fine. This is very low for me so I took spatone for a while and then just forgot all about it.

Just from what you have all said. I do need to drink more water so I am going to make a conscious effort. I am going to start and take spatone again.

As for letting hubby do all the work I should be so lucky. He works away alot and so don't have a choice. I am going out with friends twice this week already. One has just had a MC so really needs me and the other lives along way from us and is coming up this week.

I will definately drink more, take spatone again and try to rest when I can.
