Did most ladies waters break with their first babies or did u have to be induced? I’m due tomorow and really hope he arrives soon as I don’t fancy induction

Hi there,
I remember feeling nervous as the big day gets closer. I’ve had 5 children. With only one did my waters break before contractions. With 3 of my babies contractions first and my waters broke towards the end. With my last baby I was induced. Waters broken by mw and then the drip popped in after an hour or 2. This was by far my easiest labor. I’d heard stories so was really pleasently surprised. Best of luck xx

Same as ozzie contractions started before waters went on two of them.
Was induced on third and had my waters broken for me. You can go into labour without your waters breaking. Best of luck for the big day. Hope baby won't keep you waiting too much longer

I think it's something like only 10% of women who have their waters break before contractions start.

I was due Monday and still waiting for baby to turn up so can empathise!! Midwife said I'll be offered induction at 40+10 but I am worried about the potential for more and more interventions if I do but also don't want to be pregnant anymore 🙄

You can always ask for a membrane sweep. My mw did those for my last 2 babies. It can stimulate release of hormones for labour more naturally. Can avoid induction. Otherwise get walking ( but not too far!!) and save energy for labor! X

Yes they are going to do a sweep on Tuesday if nothing by then. Sorry for too much info but is diaoherrea a sign of labour coming as just had a bad tum just now and had to run loo. Oops! Yes I’m tired of being preggers now and can’t wait for him to come out. My friend said to stay active and go walking and bounce on a big ball the next few days so I mite try that

I had a bit of a backache all afternoon at 41 weeks with DS, hindwaters went spontaneously at 8pm, contractions started after that. Good luck!

Pickles31 · 07/11/2018 20:49

Oooh, my friend had just asked how many cm’s my cervix is? Is this some thing u do yourself?

No! You haven't had the training to do it properly, it's tricky to reach on your own body and if you don't have proper sterile gloves you risk introducing infection.

I was induced at 42 weeks, I was going crazy by that point. Induction worked fine for me, my waters didn't break until I was pushing.

I was 2 weeks overdue. Sweep did nothing and I personally would not have that again. Some babies like it in there
Best of luck OP, longest 2 weeks of my life!

Waters went by themselves on my First at 39 weeks (Born within 2 hours after)

Induced with My second , contractions came thick and fast; and had Waters Broken (Arrived 10mins after waters broken)
