Prenatals

I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant however am really struggling with sicknessSadi feel sick pretty much all day from the moment I wake up to go to bed (I feel like such a cry baby to my boyfriend, bless him) however have only been sick 3 times.

As soon as I found out I started taking prenatals (3 big tablets a day) however at around 6 weeks I found that even the thought of them makes me feel so sick I start gagging and I get really really bad headaches which makes me feel worse than I already am. So I am currently only taking folic acid (tiny tablets that I can just about bare) however these have made me sick too and I have to physically cover my ears and shut my eyes when my bf gets one out of the pot as even that makes me gag.

Is anyone else finding this a struggle or am I just being ott/dramatic? I feel awful for not taking themSadAlso does anyone else only take folic acid/no prenatals?

I took folic acid and vit d (also tiny tablets) because they were recommended by both my fertility clinic and my midwife.

You don't have to take fancy (and expensive) prenatal, according to the nhs.

@physicskate perfect thank you, I might be able to manage those

I couldn't stomach those huge things and I'm usually OK with tablets. I took prescribed folic acid cos I needed a higher dose but I think if you buy it alone its a small tablet anyway.
My nausea started to fade by week 11 good luck.

I swallowed my prenatal for the first time in several days today! It took a few goes, but I did it. I’ve mostly just been taking folic acid, but I really need to get some vitamin d for days when the prenatal clearly isn’t happening.

Before I got pregnant, I could take the prenatal in the same swallow as about six other tablets - it was only ever the folic acid I struggled with, which was weird as it’s tiny. But now I’m feeling so ill most of the time it’s just not possible to take the big one. The tiny one is, at least, very small!

Pregnancy makes you re-assess a few things, doesn’t it?

@WeShouldOpenABar thank you, I really hope this sickness starts to fade!

@Spargle thank you, I didn't realise I needed vitamin d as well! Yeah those tablets are actually huge and the thought of them alone makes me gag let alone actually taking them! I hope all goes well, how many weeks along are you?
