35 weeks and cramps

Last night I suffered from really bad period-type cramps. The whole episode lasted about an hour and the pain came in waves. I’d pretty much convinced myself labour had started then it went away.

I saw the midwife yesterday and she mentioned I might start to get some cramping as my pelvis soften for birth. Is this that do you know?

The other possibility is that it’s related to my SPD as my pelvis has been really sore this week, much more than normal.

I guess my question is, is this normal or is my baby imminent and should I be more concerned?

I am 34 and have something similar every few days normally after I been walking more than usual. My midwife told me if it doesn't go away after an hour of resting, changing position, going to toilet or passing wind then to phone maternity assessment x

Thanks, that’s useful to know.
