Baby sling recommendations?

Looking for recommendations for a cheapish sling to use around the house/short walks etc.
Don't want to spend too much as we'll be buying a decent carrier when baby is a little older as we live rurally and have 2 crazy labs to walk but I'll wait until baby is here and try some of those out then.

I've used a few slings, started with a stretchy wrap for newborn, now on a madame googoo baby four months. I hire mine from our local sling library, it's ten pound for the month and you can change to another sling at any point (like I have) the library's are great and will save you a small fortune x

Try a secondhand stretchy wrap or Caboo for the newborn days. There are lots of buy/sell/swap sling groups around. Caboo is easier for a novice to use but stretchy wraps are very simple and can be picked up cheaply.

You'll get loads of recommendations from different people who all have different preferences, you would be best off (if you can) finding you local sling library where you can borrow them for a length of time and see which one works best for you. They'll also show you how to wear it properly and different ways to use it.

We've had 4 slings in 16 months so far 😔 we had a stretchy wrap but he was tiny and DH was not comfortable using it. Then we had a close caboo lite which was about £50 - very similar to a wrap but structured so there was less faffing about. DS was tiny at birth so he went in there for ages. We now have an Ergo 360 which we use when walking the dog, and a ring sling for round the house when he's not feeling great and super clingy. He's still pretty tiny so I imagine a bigger baby may have gone through them quicker!

I looked into using a sling library but ended up being given some slings and the wrap I prefer to use isn't stretchy.

Anyway some sling libraries allow you to hire a wrap for 3 months as most people don't want to use one longer than the first 3 months before using a baby carrier.

I bought a cheap mei tai from amazon for £15 that was so good and got passed around and carried 6 babies in the end!
Highly recommend a connecta for when you get your more expensive one.

Wrap sling (I had an amawrap) for the little stage. Then ergo for 6 month plus (big boy) which we still use at 2 sometimes but mainly use littlelife voyager as it's further away from you so can pop in and out without adjusting clothing layers when little legs get tired.
