Waters breaking?

Hi!
I've literally just woke up in a massive wet patch and unsure whether my waters have broke or not?!
I'm 39+3 and I'm more embarrassed that I've just wet myself in my sleep.
The patch it massive 😂
Is it possible for my waters to break without me realising and no contractions afterwards?
Thank you!

It could be either. You need to ringnypur hospital or midwife and be swapped to see if it was your waters. If it is your waters then there is a risk of infection so they will suggest induction in 24 hours if you are still not contracting.

Stand up and start walking round. If it’s your waters you will be leaking everywhere (voice of bitter experience haha) but call your midwife and go and get checked. It’s very important. They won’t want to leave you too long after waters broken due to risks of infection (again voice of bitter experience)

Please call midwife and get checked.

Sounds like it. I only had a very slight back ache one side after they broke, for a good while after anyway.

Does it smell like wee?

When i had mine my waters broke then within 10 mins I was having contractions so you might know soon enough!

shallichangemyname · 06/11/2018 09:02

Mine broke with no warning and no contractions. After the mini flood I got up and would only "leak" occasionally so genuinely wasn't sure. Went to hospital and swab inconclusive because no leakage at the time but they kept me in and contractions started about 4 or 5 hours later.

Yes, it is possible for waters to break with no contractions happening. It happened to me in two out of three pregnancies. Call your midwife or delivery unit.

Thank you everyone!
I have rung the midwife who has said to stay at home and to see if I leak anymore. At the moment, nothing so not looking hopeful. I thought it was finally the start of something but maybe not! :-)
