I'm currently 35+5 weeks pregnant with DS2.
I was induced at 37 weeks with DS1 due to pre-eclampsia.
I was wondering, if you were induced early with your first, what happened second time round?
I know babies come when they're ready but just curious to see how second pregnancies worked out Smile

High blood pressure but not PE. Induced 39 weeks with no 1 and 37+5 with no2, but they thought he might be massive ( he wasn't really) labours almost identical. Less afraid and therefore calmer and more controlled second time.

I was induced with my first due to preeclampsia.
With my second they said they didn’t want me going overdue as my blood pressure was creeping up again (also dc2 was measuring small, and we had done reduced movements) so was induced again with dc2 a couple of days after my due date.

Both births were fine, no intervention either time.

Induced a 39 weeks with dc1 due to pre-eclampsia.

Went to 41 weeks with dc2 and then started developing pre-eclampsia again. They wanted to induce me but, for various reasons relating to my first labour, I refused, and had an elective c-section instead.

@Helpmemyhairisterrible Thanks for the reply! So far my blood pressure has been behaving itself this time round!

@Dinosaursdontgrowontrees Glad to hear labour went well. My first wasn't great so hopefully it'll happen naturally this time 🙈

Was induced both times for high BP at 37+3. First time took 49 hours and forceps.

Second took less than 4 hours, gas and air, I bloody loved it.

@beela Were you on any medication to try and stop preeclampsia second time round? I've been taking low dose of aspirin and so far my blood pressure has been good.

No, I wasn't. My blood pressure behaved perfectly until 41 weeks and I was hoping for a natural birth so was a bit disappointed when the PE came along.

But there was no way I was being induced again and I had already discussed and agreed with the consultant that, if it came to it, he would support a planned section.

Induced at 38wks first time around because of pre-eclampsia.

Second time I took baby aspirin, didn't develop PE, went into labour spontaneously at 40+7 - a week overdue.

My first, I was induced and then had to have an EMCS
My second was breech so I had an elective

I'm pregnant with my third baby (although 5th pregnancy) so I'm assuming I will have to have another elective but my last was 9 years ago so I've no idea yet (I'm in early preg). I wonder if I will need to be induced if I can have a vaginal birth...

mintich · 05/11/2018 16:08

I had an elective c section at 39 weeks with my second

WeeDoughball · 05/11/2018 16:16

Induced early with first due to PE.

2nd - plan from the start to induce at due date if went that far. As progressed we decided to induce at 37. DS arrived without induction at 36+6. No PE this time

sleepyhead · 05/11/2018 16:32

I was induced at 40+10 with ds1. It was pretty quick - I suspect I was just about ready to go myself.

With ds2 I was 40 and requested to be induced on my due date if he hadn't arrived. He came at great speed at 39+6!
