New sofas that don't smell

Hi, I need to buy a fabric sofa but I want to avoid ones with that strong chemical 'new sofa' smell. Has anyone bought an Ikea fabric sofa recently that they'd recommend as being a) not smelly and b) soft and comfy? Or if not Ikea, any other recommedations for a fabric sofa, please? Thanks so much - we're sitting on sunloungers at the moment so your help is neeed!

I think it’s often quite unavoidable but if you buy the Ikea ones with washable covers, at least you can wash them right away. I think you will still smell a bit of a smell though.

Could you put it in a room where you could open the window?

Good idea about washing the covers first - thanks. I don't mind a 'normal' amount of new furniture smell. But it's the ones that stink the whole house out, or leave people with sore throats/stinging eyes that I'm trying to avoid. That seems to be quite a common thing from offgassing, so I'm after a sofa with the absolute minimum amount of new chemical smell. Any recommendations of retailers would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Our sofas are from John Lewis, Multiyork & Ikea
The first two a wood, wool & feather filled so I suspect less off gassing than a synthetic foam but can't say why the cheap Ikea one was ok

I’ve never had a new sofa that has smelt that strongly to be honest. We recently got new ones from Next that didn’t smell.
