I am 11+2 - 11+5. Having problems with my jeans and also combat style trousers and have to keep undoing them. This is 2nd preganancy. With DS I am sure I didnt have these problems so early on. Have not really gained any weight (lost weight in first 8-9 weeks and have just put that back on).

I struggled with my jeans from about the same time as you and it was my first pregnancy. I also lost weight in the first months as well. My belief is that you should get yourself into maternity clothes whenever you feel comfortable and ignore anyone who makes negative comments.

pavlovthecat · 18/06/2007 21:32

I stayed in most of my normal clothes . I bought several pairs of maternity trousers, and never got to wear them!
Sorry

Same boat as you Awen, and looking about 22wks by first pregnancy standards. Will have to go up in the loft at the weekend to dig out the maternity wear. At least we should get more wear out of it this time round - I think the growth rate does plateau out at some point...

First time round about 18weeks

this time round about 11-12weeks

I go for the "wear whatever is comfy & sod 'em" approach

bilblio · 18/06/2007 21:58

I'm expecting my 1st, and I started wearing maternity trousers from about 11 weeks, I remember the Dr commenting on them at my 12 week scan. I'm not the slimmest of people so I wasn't particularly showing until weeks afterwards but my normal jeans were digging so much that I kept having to undo buttons especially when I was driving.

I also wanted to make sure I got my money's worth out of all these maternity clothes I was having to buy

BetsyBoop · 18/06/2007 21:59

forgot to say I'm 21weeks now & I've only gained 2lbs so far, so I've no idea where this huge bump has come from

MamaMaiasaura · 18/06/2007 22:00

due 5 Jan. Second as already have ds7 - 38 weeks 8lb12 c/s. Could say third as have a dp!

divastrop · 18/06/2007 22:05

with my first preg it was about 4 months, with my second i was still in maternity clothes from the first time

with dc3,and dc4,i couldnt get into my jeans from 6 weeks.had a definite bump from 11 weeks with dd2,and had to get maternity clothes!
with dc5,it was about 10/11 weeks due to bad ms.

BellaBear · 18/06/2007 22:07

I'm only 7 weeks but my jeans are too tight and I have to undo the top button when sitting and leaning forward! Am I eating too much?

beckmo · 19/06/2007 06:34

This is my baby and I needed to start wearing maternity jeans at around 5 months.I bought such badley fitting ones however that they only stayed up without a belt for one day...when I was 39 weeks pregnant. Then they were too small for me!Top wise I'm still wearing pre preggars clothes except for some indispensable maternity vest tops from H&M .Next time I'm buying 2 pairs of black jersey stretchy maternity trousers and that's it!

Imawurzel · 19/06/2007 07:14

I'm 12+1 and Still fitting into mine, well, all my tops show my bulges (not baby bulge, food bulge)
Everything i own makes me look fat (in my eyes) Not comfy in anything and no money at the moment to buy maternity clothes. Have been on e-bay but get out-bidded a lot.
The belt on my work trousers have started to dig in when i sit down/lean forward. But can't not wear belt with them cos they show my undies if i lean over.I do want to get some black maternity trousers.what size do i go for? My normal 14-16??

Riss70 · 19/06/2007 08:04

I was lucky I am a 10 and and wore my normal clothes throughout pregnancy (hipsters were great they sat under my belly) the only concesion was that I wore the loser tops in my wardrobe as I do not really like the big belly bulge showing bare on me (think it looks great on oter though)

Riss70 · 19/06/2007 08:06

Oh yeah and the smallest of my three was 6 pound 12, the largest 7 pound 9 (doc could not beleive the size of them for my size apparently they could not "palpate" the bubs and I suffered no stomach muscle seperation)

cupcake78 · 19/06/2007 09:47

That seems fairly standard really. I found at 9 weeks most things were becoming uncomfortable and had to resort to comfortable clothes from I think 10 weeks.

RGPargy · 19/06/2007 10:05

Still fitting into my normal clothes, but then they are loose and baggy anyway (fat bird, covering up etc).

I've bought some new tops and trousers recently tho, just the next size up. Hopefully they'll last a few months and then i'll still be able to wear them once i've had the baby.

I'm 17 weeks today and have put on about 7lbs.

LucyK1978 · 19/06/2007 11:38

I am 18+3 and wore my new maternity trousers for the first time about a week ago - they're wonderful! Most of my pre-preg clothes still fit but begin to feel a bit tight by the end of the day.

Does anyone else find that their bump is much firmer in the evenings? I'm slightly overweight normally, but find that the 'firm' bit of the bump is much higher than where the baby is when I have the scans. Is this just my cake belly getting hard at night?

And even though my boobs have grown HUGELY and I have this big firm bump in the evenings, I've still not put any weight on the scales, which hubby says means either the scales are broken or it's a miracle, as my shape has definately changed!

MamaMaiasaura · 19/06/2007 12:57

My jeans arent so tight today think it was the freshley washed tightness of them too. They are still tighter than before tho. I got absolutely massive with ds and measured large for dates. He was 38 weeks 8lb 12. Pre ds I was size 6-8 and a 34dd.. managed to get down to 10-12 bottom and bust 34G. Thats going out of the window i fear!
