Due to have a section and husband has flu

I'm due to have a section in a few days and my husband has come down with flu. Am I right in thinking that he will not be allowed in with me during the procedure and he definitely won't be allowed visit us in the hospital? Has this happened to anyone before? Feeling worried now

I don’t know the policy.

But if it was me I’d pull my big girl pants up and leave him at home and do it alone (or I’d ask a friend). My health and the babies health would be paramount.

I don't know the policy either but I would start considering another person to be there with you. I don't think anyone with flu should be on a maternity ward with lots of vulnerable new babies and mothers and risk passing it on.
Best of luck.

You can do this! Do you have a parent, sibling or friend to go with you?

You can face time DH as soon as you are out of theatre. I know how hard this must be, and those pesky hormones magnify every fear or anxiety but you are about to be a mum... there is nothing on this planet braver than a mum! X

There's no way I'd be considering someone with flu entering a hospital, let alone a ward with newborns. I'd start looking for someone else to accompany you, OP. Sorry.

Amaried · 03/11/2018 10:43

Hi op. I'd see if you could push your section back a couple of days and fingers crossed it will be behind him
At that stage

Darkstar4855 · 03/11/2018 10:43

The hospital might be able to delay your section for a few days to give him more time to recover - if it’s not urgent due to concerns about growth or similar then it might be worth giving them a ring?

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 03/11/2018 10:45

You don't want him there. Way too risky being near a NB or any other patients for that matter.

Can someone else go with you?

gamerchick · 03/11/2018 10:47

You need someone else. You can't expose a hospital to flu. I'm sorry man Flowers

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 03/11/2018 10:47

Any way you can quarantine yourself now? In a few days time your husband will v. probably be on the mend - but you might well have come down with the bug.

Caprisunorange · 03/11/2018 10:55

I would ask for it to be delayed, assuming it’s not time critical. Good luck xx

Can you go and stay elsewhere until he improves? With family or a friend?

I’d be insisting he stays off work and pumps himself full of berrocca and gets loads of rest in an attempt to recover ASAP.

He can’t reasonably go into a hospital ward knowing he’s sick- it’s not fair on the staff and patients sharing your ward.
