Hello. So I'm 18 weeks +5 now and feel like I need a friend I've had lots of anxiety in the first few weeks but that seems to be easing off now and I feel a little bit more excited about things. We find out next week if we are team pink or blue

How's everyone feeling? My sickness has finally eased off but my god is this indigestion bad it's crippling me!

Feel free to reply as I love hearing lots of peoples journeys

Emily xx

Hi Emily, I'm Sam. I'm 17+5 today. I'm glad to hear your sickness has eased off as mine is still In full swing and absolutely draining lol I'm hoping to find out the sex In a couple of weeks to, although suspect it's a boy

LittleDoveLove · 03/11/2018 06:48

Hi @emilyanne96 I'm 16+6 . My sickness has gone I'm just very very tired! My anxiety is also quite bad on certain things but more chilled out on others (bit strange!). I did the Harmony so I know I'm having a boy :) I am getting anxious about my 20 week scan as he was in a weird position for 13 week one and I had to have an internal. I also heard his heartbeat for first time yesterday and It definitely makes it all very real! You aren't alone in your anxiety

emilyanne96 · 03/11/2018 07:37

@Singlemummyto5 I really hope the sickness eases off soon. I'm absolutely adamant I'm having a girl it's been a strong feeling since I found out I was pregnant! Please let me know if you are right! Have you had any cravings? X

@LittleDoveLove I have learnt to deal with the anxiety and starting to realise it is normal and if I wasn't worried something would be wrong with me. This is my 1st baby tho so everything is brand new and my hormones are in full swing - ask my other half what is the harmony??? X

Hi girls, I'm 18+1 weeks with first baby. Feeling ok on the whole but like you, the anxiety is real! When I went for my 16 week appointment, I was told that they no longer listen to the heartbeat so I was so gutted about that! I think if I were to have heard that, I would've felt a lot better. My 20 week scan is in just over two weeks away so I'm trying so hard to stay calm and patient until then. I just want to know everything is ok!

Have either of you felt any movements yet? Past few days I've had flutterings but I can't be sure!!!

kmreeve · 03/11/2018 08:18

Don't suffer with your heartburn- your GP can give you a prescription for omneprazole ( 1 a day heartburn tablet) it's a game changer!

Singlemummyto5 · 03/11/2018 09:04

No cravings with this one yet, my first was pickled onion monster and ice cubes lol
I've been feeling movement for a while but by baby number 5 you know what to look for haha I find it easiest to feel if I lay in a quiet room on my left side. Just gentle massage the bottom of bump for a minute or two and it usually wakes baby up. You might have to really concentrate at first to be able to tell what is your body and what is baby.

emilyanne96 · 03/11/2018 09:56

@IHaveADream14 the anxiety is bad but try and just stay positive I know it's hard. That's strange that they don't listen to the heartbeat anymore as they've listened to mine twice? I think I've felt movement but like you I am unsure as I'm not sure what I'm feeling for. Can't wait to feel proper little kicks I think it will feel a lot more real then xx

@Singlemummyto5 wow 5 babies? Lovely! I've been craving fresh orange juice but with my suffering from indigestion I've not had any as I know it'll just make me worse. Typical haha I hope it wears off soon I'm in agony with it x

At first when baby started movi g a felt kind of like a heavy feeling in the bottom of my tummy and just butterflies, once you can notice it it will feel more like something rubbing your tummy from the inside, some people also feel like muscle twitches.
Yeas this lo is number 5! Trust I'm just as surprised lol I thought I was done at 4 but I'm happy to be expecting this one and it will be well loved by all its siblings

SoBoredOfWaiting · 03/11/2018 11:23

Hi @emilyanne96 !
A little bit further along than you, I am 20 +5! I was so anxious in the beginning, had a large bleed at 8 weeks but luckily all ok. Totally understand the anxiety, I have some weeks better than others. Hormones do not help at all.
Feeling just tired currently, baby kicking my bladder every 5 secs doesn't help 😂
My friend had the same craving as you, the acid reflux from it was horrific! Maybe try orange squash to tone down the acidity? That is what she did anyways.
My craving is crisps!
How exciting that you are finding out! Wishing you all the best on the scan!

LittleDoveLove · 03/11/2018 13:20

Hi @emilyanne96 it's the test you can have done (you pay) where they check the babies DNA to check for chromosome problems such as downs. I had it at 10+4. It's more accurate than the combined test and because they use the babies DNA you can find out the sex if you like :) I went straight for that as I knew being 35 I would get a higher combined result and I wanted more certainly (mine all came back less then 1 in 10,000) is my first baby too :) x

LittleDoveLove · 03/11/2018 13:22

It was just a blood test from me so non invasive :)

emilyanne96 · 03/11/2018 18:50

@Singlemummyto5 aww well congrats and you will have lots of little helpers!

@SoBoredOfWaiting orange squash just doesn't cut it it's not the same hahah. I'm just praying it clears off soon as it's really getting me down. I bled too but it turned out everything was okay thank god, my hormones are horrendous I feel so bad for my other half haha but he's being good about it. I love when I'm just in a comfy position in bed and I need to wee...AGAIN!! I cannot wait to find out but I am adamant it's a girl! Congrats to you too hope all goes well for you xx

Hi @emilyanne96

Glad to hear your sickness has calmed & congrats on your pregnancy! I’m 17 weeks exactly today! My sickness has also calmed down, were you talking anything for the sickness? I’ve dodged indigestion but have constipation (I’ve got medication so I can tolerate it) this is my first pregnancy and I honestly thought I’d glow throughout 😂 how naive of me!

I too feel like I have anxiety which isn’t something I ever call it, but reading these comments I think that’s what it is. Every little symptom I.e a couple of days ago I thought I had a water infection I was straight to my GP (very unlike me I usually just drink cranberry juice and ride it out) convincing myself it’s a definite UTI and something’s going to go wrong, as I read they can be serious if untreated. When the doctor said everything is fine (I had some weird discharge too) which was also fine - I was still convinced it must be something else! It’s asif I’ve convinced myself it’s not fine when it is!

When I seen the first scan on the screen me and OH both teared up as i had been so poorly and weak, I just was so happy to see a little baby literally thriving with all my energy in there - very ironic really haha. Have you thought about joining any swimming or yoga classes? I’m thinking about swimming ones after work.

@IHaveDream14 I thought you could listen to your baby’s heart beat at your 16 week appointment too! Mine is next week and was looking forward to that for reassurance too! I wonder why they’ve stopped that? I’ll play dumb and ask anyway - but what a shame! X

emilyanne96 · 03/11/2018 19:16

@Anyat212 I didn't take anything for my sickness but I could only stomach Jacobs dry crackers and there's only so many you can eat before you get sick of them haha. I have indigestion AND constipation it's a nightmare I feel so fat and lethargic haha.

Don't feel bad for having anxiety it's completely normal and once you start to accept that it's normal and you're okay you'll start to feel better. I didn't even have to ask about the heartbeat they just did it for me with a Doppler. You can buy home Dopplers but not everyone recommends them as they can cause false reassurance.

Hope all goes well with your scans etc. Are you going to find out what you're having? X

Anyat212 · 03/11/2018 19:37

@emilyanne96 haha Jacobs dry crackers I literally just got a shiver down my spine! That’s all I could eat too along with plain digestives - it looked ridiculous taking these in a lunch box to work!! It was a very sad dinner indeed. Ah - a definite nightmare! For constipation I’d recommend Movicol (it’s completely safe and helps you go) and lactulose although that’s more to make your stools soft. I completely agree with you though, I feel so bloated and actually shattered! I feel like I haven’t had a decent sleep since 2011 lol. I hope they pass for you tho, have you spoke to your GP about options for either constipation or indigestion?

Thank you! - I agree I can always spot it in other people but think it’s harder to realise it in your inner self! Glad to hear yours has ease off, do you have any tips?

I’ll have a look into the Doppler as I don’t want to miss out on that! We are I really wish I could be one of these people who has a surprise but I’d drive myself crazy! Are you finding out? I have a sneaky gut feeling I’m having a boy - do you have any inklings? Hope all goes with your scan too!

emilyanne96 · 03/11/2018 20:01

@Anyat212 I haven't spoken to the midwife about anything like constipation or indigestion but will be mentioning it if it gets worse but at the moment it's manageable!

I think with me it got to a point where I was being silly and over the top and I just sort of snapped myself out of it. Also whatever anxiety or thoughts you have - TALK about it as silly as it sounds there's probably a thousand other people going through the exact same. I'm always here to listen as well. You'll probs say what I'm thinking haha I can worry about anything I'm a pro at it

I wish I could not find out but I would drive myself mad. I have such a strong feeling it's a girl I have from day one! We find out on the 12th I'm so excited it's been so long since my last scan! Xx

@emilyanne96 we have a few we have shortlisted with one we currently like more but I have been known to change my mind before! Haha

emilyanne96 · 03/11/2018 22:11

@LittleDoveLove aww ahah picking names are my favourite. I'm finding it easier to pick girls names really struggling for boys x

OP posts:
LittleDoveLove · 04/11/2018 08:02

@emilyanne96 yes we had two girls names! Boys is a lot harder!! X

RachelJoff · 05/11/2018 17:39

Hi. I'm 18+5 today. Most of my first trimester symptoms are getting better now, even the tiredness is better. Starting to get a few aches as i'm starting to walk with a waddle. Feeling full. They say the baby is as big as an artichoke - feels much bigger! Main problem is that i'm bored. I got pregnant just as i finished a degree and for a couple of reasons i can't really start a job until after what would be maternity leave. I'm going stir crazy!
