Is this the start of labour?

I'm due today and woke up this morning at 2am with an urge to poop (sorry for tmi) which lasted for about two hours.

I couldn't get back to sleep because I have had back ache and period type cramps since. I don't think I'm feeling any contractions yet but it is just a continuous aching in my lower back/bottom area and the period type cramps keep coming and the intensity increases then fades.

Could this be the start of something? Did anyone experience this before labour? I definitely haven't felt this before and doesn't feel anything like the Braxton Hicks I was having early in the week. I'm a first time Mum so I have no idea what to expect or if this means anything.

They all sound like baby is on their way to me! How are you doing how's?

It sounds like early labour to me. Try to get some rest

Thanks for the replies. The intensity of the period type seems like it is getting stronger but then fades away. Is this what a contraction feels like? Ive downloaded the contraction timer but unsure if I'm even having a contraction

I'm just sat with my feet up relaxing and drinking plenty of water so doing fine. Hopefully it is baby on his way out because I really thought I'd go over due!

Just be careful because my urge to poop feeling was actually active labour..didn't realise that's what it would feel like when baby was making it's way out!

Sounds like labour to me!

Thank you everyone. Went into hospital and confirmed I'm 3cm dilated but I opted to come home because I live very close by. Midwife said to try and cope with the pain and ideally wants me to come in at 7cm or when I really can't take the pain anymore. Having some cocodamol and going to try and rest
