Pregnancy Insomnia any tips/help 😕

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and have had pregnancy insomnia since about 14 weeks. Usually it's 3 hrs or so a night but it's getting worse.

I'm exhausted during the day, work full time try to sleep about 10ish but no joy until about 1or 2 then awake again for 1-2 hrs.

I avoid my phone for a few hours when I'm not sleeping, tried baths, lavender, chilled time before bed etc.

I even used to get up and clean but pgp put a stop to a lot of that! It's driving me balmy and so foggy headed at work!

Any tips for attempting to sleep? 😣

Whenever I can’t sleep, I get the laptop out and watch a relaxing video on YouTube. There are some hypnosis for sleep ones, and some meditation ones, for example. It has to be interesting enough for me to enjoy it, or it doesn’t work. But the act of concentrating on something and not trying to get to sleep can work wonders.

You need to make sure your laptop is on a non-flammable surface, with good air circulation, and no fabric near it, as they can go on fire otherwise, which would not be especially helpful.

Oh, and some of these videos are good to listen to on headphones, although then you have to take the necessary precautions to make them safe and comfortable!

Thanks I will give it a go.

I got 3 hours sleep last night and was so exhausted that I've been sent home from work.

If one more person tells me that it's just preparing me for a baby I think I'm going to scream! Pretty sure all my friends had more than 3 hours total within a 24 hr period!

Can you go to bed earlier? 10pm is really late for me atm.. I try to get in for 8:30/9 as I know I'll be awake from 1-4.. then get s couple more hours before I get up at 6:30.

It sucks!

I also do yoga breath to help me get back to bed, failing that I eat s banana- seems to help xx

I was going to bed at 9 but still wasn't sleeping so thought if I stayed up til 10 I might be tired enough to get to sleep.......doesn't work lol.

I do find after my pregnancy yoga class I sleep for more hours currently doing house renovations so no space to do yoga at home. Is the yoga breath just the deep breathing?

Yeah.. I do it as part of my hypnobirthing course. I also do pregnancy yoga too and we do the breath during class too.

In for 4 out for 8...

I'm convinced I'll sleep more when baby is here.. I breastfeed so it's so lazy during the night haha

Ooo also you can get what's called "liquid yoga" - spray in room/on pillow for extra zen !!

Thanks I will give it a go!

I will try anything just to try to get some energy levels!

I listen to audiobooks when I can’t sleep- I play them on my phone and listen through my pillow so at least I’m still in bed and it stops me from going into annoying insomniac thought patterns.

A 3am bath was a favourite in my last pregnancy too!
