Hi ladies

Just wanted to check what the average time is on the NHS to get blood test results back from the first appointment.
Many thanks

I got mine through the maternity notes app within a few weeks, then they were discussed at my 16 week appointment. Everything was normal but I assume I would have been called in if there had been anything concerning.

Mine never came through so chased them up at 16 week app and all was fine. I just assumed if it was something serious they would ring.

If it's iron and stuff like that, I got the results the following day.

Next appointment unless they find something...

Thanks all. I guess then I’m looking for answers from ladies who had issues. I’m a bit worried about thalasemia due to my ethnicity but as my booking appointment is quite late (12-13 weeks) I’m hoping they don’t take too long with results

If there is a problem I’ve always been told they’ll phone within 2-3 days.

My doctors surgery actually waited 2 weeks to say my bloods showed infection and they wanted to repeat the test. The retest was clear and I called myself to get the results 2 days after the test.

I got mine within 2 weeks. I got told to chase it up if I did not receive them in 2 weeks. They came in the post.

I received a letter within a week to tell me I was Rhesus Neg but that's not a problem as such. Everything else was given to me at 16 weeks. I think they call within a week or two if there are any problems.

clairehr · 31/10/2018 22:07

Another who was given them at 16 weeks too. I assumed if there's been anything wrong they'd have contacted me before that.

The antenatal screening department would call you within a week for partner testing if any concerns (I would think) for something like thalassemia. Sometimes it takes a bit longer for the lab to properly screen the haemoglobinopathies though.

Do you have family members who are carriers of the condition?
