Early scan at 6 weeks 5 days- measuring a week behind

I had an early scan this morning due to bleeding and cramping. The doctor said the embryo measured behind and this was alarming (3.1mm). There was a heartbeat but could not detect rate, GS 16mm and YS 2.7mm. Has anyone else had this experience? Baby was IVF so certain of dates (6 weeks and 4.75 days by transfer date!).

A friend had this. It didn't end well for her. I'm very sorry.

I understand that's incredibly flippant and awful news and ivf is such an emotional time. I would suggest taking each day as it comes, as nothing is certain (I was dating two days behind at that point but then 3 days ahead by the 9 weeks scan). You're still in with a chance until you're not...

Just wanted to update after last scan, in case this is read in the future.

The CRL hadn’t changed at all 4 days later, dating us at 6 +0 weeks at 7+2 and sadly the heartbeat was only 103 bpm. This means there has been no growth at all in 4 days. We are measuring 9 days behind and will miscarry.
