Painful pop next to belly button at 17 weeks? Help!

Hi,

I was hoping someone can help me. I keep having on and off a very painful like kind of pop/shock. It only lasts a second and then goes. It always seems to appear just to the left or right of my belly button. Sometimes the pain is that severe it doubles me over! This happens about 3 times a day, but the most annoying part is I don’t know when it’s going to happen as I don’t know what triggers it. I’ve spoken to my midwife who told me to get booked in with the doctors in case this is my appendix (it is 100% not my appendix). She said she didn’t have a clue what it was. This pain is really getting to me now and I’m desperately hoping that someone has experienced this before.

It sounds to me like it could be either something stretching or baby kicking somewhere sensitive but obviously that's just a guess.

Hopefully your midwife can shed some more light on the situation for you

Thank you. I asked my midwife yesterday but she didn’t have a clue and said she had never heard of it. She told me to book an apt with my doctor in case it’s my appendix. I 100% know that it isn’t my appendix which is just so frustrating because I don’t feel like anyone is listening to me. Thank for replying tho 😊

I haven't got any specific suggestions, but it is definitely worthwhile making an appointment with your GP to talk it through. You are quite right that it doesn't sound like appendix pain at all, but that doesn't mean the midwife's advice to see a doctor was wrong too :) There may or may not be an answer but your GP will get more details and consider a wide range of possibilities.

I hope you can get some help and reassurance on this soon.
