Just bit onto a ruddy Skittle sweet and part of my tooth and filling decided to jump out with the sweet - trust me to be having a Skittles craving!!!! What happens now - not sure what the score is with having a filling done whilst pregnant!

See mad4girls' thread, somewhere around here, on her toothache!

Speaking from experience one of my molars came apart last July, I was due in Sept. The dentist told me he would be happy to give his wife a filling, but at the end of the day it was my decision. I had it done and everything was fine.

The advice is to only use white fillings and to avoid putting in or taking out amalgam filings (black ones).

there is no evidence that amalgam fillings should not be used during pregnancy, but many local authorities provide white fillings for pregnant women as so many are concerned. it's free, so a good time to do it too!

I needed one when I was pregnant and the dentist would only use a white one - which suited me!!

Well I went to the dentist like a good girl (didn't get a lollipop though LOL) not that I would expect one with it being a dentist DUH! He repaired my filling and by the looks of it it's just a bog standed amalgam filling - now I am worried it may harm the baby.

it will NOT harm the baby. there is no evidence of harm and it has been studied quite extensively according to my dentist. worrying is probably more harmful!
