Motorbiking while pregnant

Anyone got any experience of this at all? I passed my test at 6 weeks (I'm now 12+1) and me and DH have just bought a new bike which I really want to ride.

Has anyone else considered motorbiking while pregnant, anyone got any sound advice? When I scour the internet for advice, everything seems to heap scorn on any potential mother for wanting to even look at a bike. I know there's a chance I can have a prang, but that goes anyway, whether I'm pregnant or not. I guess the additional thing, is that there are two lives at risk, not just the one.

I've heard rumours that vibrations can trigger miscairrages as well (although only on american Harley websites which vibrate a LOT more than mine does). Can anyone back this up, or is it another old wives tale? The vibrations are honestly not much more than a diesel car, the only difference is that your legs are wider apart, so the vibes are more "directed" as it were!

I suppose the thing is, I want to ride, but I don't want to do it if its stupidly dangerous (i.e. the danger is greater than the residual danger of falling off/pranging). I like to think I have common sense, so obviously would stop riding once the bump got larger, or if I felt my judgement/ability was affected.

Cheers!

I personally would not have. Used to ride pillion but then dh sold his bike when I was pregnant.

Not so much your judgement that would be the problem - more the other drivers on the road and the fact that you would be so much more exposed if you were hit.

I rode pillion (don't have my licence) in early pregnancy but stopped once I was showing
(Also bike gear didn't fit anymore)

Also, and I'm probably just wierd, I wouldn't ride pillion even now. Have 2 children and am just much more cautious than I was, because of the effect that anything happening to me would have on them.

sorry Naetha, I just wouldn't. I passed my test just before I found out I was pg. Sold it to buy prams etc . It's just not worth the rsik IMO. Keep the bike, if you want. The licence will still be there in a year's time.
Never mind all the arseholes on the road who are just not aware of bikes, your centre of balance goes weird when more heavily pg.

DH is using the bike at the moment, so it won't go to waste! Its just very tantalising in the garage!
