Sudden drop in blood pressure

Just wondering if anyone knew the reason behind a dramatic and instant drop in blood pressure.

I went in for monitoring yesterday as had awful back ache (I'm 32 weeks). As I was laying down on the bench the midwife accidentally made me fall backwards as she let the handle go as the recliner was going down and I ended up upside down.

I thought I was ok and we laughed about it. I was hooked up to the monitors and everything was perfect including my blood pressure.

Midwife left the room and 2 minutes later I nearly fainted and felt awful. She checked my blood pressure and it had dropped in the space of 5 minutes to 80/40. Would the shock of the bench make this happen?

They kept me in for 8 hours for monitoring and am now home but feel absolutely awful since. Can't seem to regain any energy.

Anyone got any thoughts? And is low blood pressure dangerous?

I’m not an expert, but it’s something to do with lying down I think.

I have to go for a lot of scans and the sonographers keep checking that I’m not getting lightheaded when I’m more reclined. I would assume that it’s related to the blood pressure thing x

Interesting! Yeah I literally went from perfect blood pressure to really low in the space of a few minutes. Was scary!
