hiccups at 36 weeks?

Hi all. I am 36 weeks today, and on three occasions over the last three days, I have felt rhythmic, jerky movements, ie not random kicks or general shiftings around from the baby like normal! THey last about 5 - 10 mins at a time. Is this just the baby having hiccups? or is this soemthing (dont know what?!) to worry about? Anyone else experienced this?

Yes, it's quite normal for babies to get hiccups in the womb! They are funny!

Hi - yes they sound like hiccups - I have 4 and each one has got them. Just try going for a little walk. Last one was 10 1/2 lb baby and I got hiccups in my bum where is head was resting - weird! Hubby enjoyed feeling them though and they do make sex at that stage interesting!

Mine gets hiccups a couple of times a day. Cute at first but then gets annoying! Bless em!

Cool, thanks ladies. I knew you could get hiccups, but really kind of felt weird and the thought of it being hiccups just felt weird (so of course being a worrier I worried it was some sort of seizure or something!). thanks for reassurance!

Curleyshirley....my dd1 had hiccups from the moment she could...right through to birth!

I loved it, kept me awake a lot.....but always made me smile.....

Its a good sign, shows all is working that they are swallowing etc.

My DS used to get them at the same time everyday, both before and after he was born. Weird!

They are perfectly normal! My DS had them from 25 weeks onwards and got them most days, obviously I thought he was dying first time I felt them . I used to let my friends feel my bump when he was hiccuping as they thought it was cute.

I held a newborn who had hiccups yesterday and was amazed how BIG their hiccups are.Huge! No wonder we can feel them with that going on inside of us!

DS used to get them too. I am pretty big and carry a lot of weight in my stomach so never really felt much movement or kicking but I felt the hiccups! Really weird sensation the first few times but then lovely and comforting.
