Taking meds against cold @39+3?

Hello ladies,
So my due date is fast approaching but my body decides to turn his back on me.
I am home alone with a sore throat (can't swallow nor speak), blocked nose, headache & overall my face just hurts.
My belly is so huge that getting up is a mission in itself. Doing that sick is pure hell.

When someone else is sick, I always make sure they are ok and well looked after by making tea & food.
Feeling disappointed, that there is nobody here to take care of me, while i am sick.
My husband went to check up on our restaurant (opening next week) & had 2 interviews.

I am at that point that I dont care anymore and would take any medication I find in this house. Just to get rid of this cold.
Would that be a stupid idea ?

In short, yes! I'm guessing we're advised not to take them for a reason.

But I do sympathise. I had sinusitis last week and its turned into tonsillitis this week too. Yay! Been fine all pregnancy so not enjoying it now so close to due date, still being at work and with a toddler to look after!

I spent a lot of time inhaling deeply over a bowl of boiling water with olbas drops in it and a towel over my head - the only thing that helped. Honestly - try it!

I'm also taking Berocca at the daily recommended dose and trying paracetamol when the head gets really bad - although that's not making much of a dent to be honest.

Rest up and get well soon

Bowl of steaming water with a towel over you head and s box of tissues next to you to keep blowing it all out.

It's miserable but this too shall pass xxxx

Thank you both!
It's so cruel that there are no meds for pregnant ladies with a cold! I couldn't resist and used my nose spray & took throat tablets with all sorts of meds inside.
At least the pressure in my face is gone. But I feel so guilty!
My husband quickly came round to bring some lemons & made me tea.
Guess next step is a hot bath and/or inhaling steam.
Hopefully little one stays put until I am better Confused

Hope you feel better soon! The cold medicines are powerful stuff though- my midwife recommended Sudafed for suppressing my supply when I wasn’t breastfeeding and it worked! So I definitely don’t think the warnings are there just to make pregnancy even less fun than it already is.

Paracetamol and a hot honey, lemon and ginger drink (I get premashed ginger or ginger and garlic in a jar from the World Foods aisle of the supermarket and put a teaspoon in boiling water with honey and lemon juice). Possibly a single very small brandy too Grin

Haha, I like the idea of brandy - so tempting isn't it.
I hate being ill. It's so boring! Nothing on tv Angry can this day be over already ....
