Waters broke, now nothing

Afternoon everyone. Just after some advice.
My waters broke this morning at 8.20am with our first baby. Since then I've had no contractions, just constant leaking.
Rang the midwife and they've done obs. All okay apart from my blood pressure being higher than usual and my babies head isn't engaged.
I've been told to come home, walk, bounce on a birth ball to try and encourage baby to engage.
Strange thing is, head was engaged at 36 weeks. Due date is today.
If nothing happens I'm to go to hospital tomorrow at 9am.

Anyone have any advice on how they got baby moving etc or anyone been in this position?

Many thanks.

My waters went with both my dcs and contractions started within 12 hrs for dc1 and about 10hours with dc2. Both dcs arrived before their due dates. Good luck OP.

Yep, I've been in your position, almost to the letter. Woke up on due date with my first baby and waters broke and continued to leak all day without contractions. I thought our baby was so clever arriving on his due date. I've just read your post to dh and we smiled in reminiscence.

This was 22 years ago. Things just have been different in those day though as I was told to come into hospital as they worried about infection once the waters had gone. As for what to do to get the baby to engage, sorry, no advice. I ended up being induced after 24 hours of nothing and it was a very slow process even after that. You may be in for an interesting few days. All the best. Flowers

Hi
I was in the exact same position this time last year.
Ended up being induced when I went in the following morning and baby arrived about 18 hours later. I was hoping my contractions would begin in the night as I tried everything but they didn’t. If you end up the same, have a nice bath and try and get lots of sleep to prepare you for tomorrow.

Good luck. Xx

This happened to me.

Waters broke at 11pm on the Saturday night, went to PAU and was told to go home and wait to see if natural labour would start. I tried everything: long walk, bouncing, a bath. Nothing happened, so went back to hospital at 8am on the Monday morning. Pessary induction was given at 9am, still nothing happened and I wasn't dilated the drip at 3pm. Baby born at 4am the following morning.

Have they given you little thermometers to measure your temperature? I was told to take my temperature every 4 hours when I was sent home to make sure I wasn't getting an infection from the waters breaking.

My waters broke with my first and contractions started about 4 hours later but with my 2nd I went a full 24 hours with nothing. I was induced and only needed 1 pessary to get things going. Before I went to the hospital I tried everything to get into natural labour but DS was too comfy. It's worth trying though which is why they'll allow you 24 hours grace before inducing you. Good luck!Flowers

This happened to me too! Waters broke at 6am but no contractions until 11pm! I did a lot of walking (mainly out of boredom to be honest). I know that is meant to get things going but not sure whether it actually worked for me or not.

Good news is, I was booked for an induction like yourself for 7:30am. I went into hospital at 5am because contractions were really starting to become bad. I was only 2cm dilates (my labour was back labour so I think that's why the contractions were so bad so soon) but they kept me in and let me progress naturally so I didn't have to be induced.

I was convinced I'd be induced but DS was just waiting until he was ready!

My baby wasn't engaged when I went to be induced but 45 minutes bouncing on a ball got her head down! Which considering she'd been transverse at one point that morning was great.

I think I wrote this on another thread yesterday. My waters broke 2 weeks before my baby was born!

Like a PP I could have written your post nearly three years ago.
Waters broke 7am on due date, DS arrived 52 hours later.
Not even a hint of a contraction so was induced, but he was back to back so I'm not sure if Labour would have happened naturally anyway.
Good luck and keep bouncing!

I had this with my first, I was 36+3. Waters broke about 4.30pm on the Saturday, no contractions. Sent home to monitor temperature and return 8am Monday if nothing happened. Woke up Sunday morning about 6am with a slight dull ache then contractions came very quickly and almost without a break. Just got to hospital and dc1 was born at 07.05am minutes after arrival. I did no bouncing but did lots of squats.
Good luck
