Baby aspirin - blood thinning injections

Does anyone know if it’s safe to take these together ? I’m on blood thinning injections for factor 5 and the nurse said I can stop the low dose aspirin if it’s not been prescribed but I don’t want to as what if this is what’s stopping me misscarrying.

Any advice would be great

No advice I'm afraid but following with interest as I'm thinking about baby aspirin myself and whether I should take it having had a previous MC.

Sent too soon! Meant to add that around para 3 it seems to suggest that in some cases both are ok? I'd definitely check with the GP.

Hope all works out well, it's such a tricky time, 🤞💐

I started taking it myself at 4 weeks preg , when I told the Docter he said that was the right thing to do due to my misscarriages . I don’t think it does any harm in trying ,you could ask your gp? Just make sure it’s the low dose one xx

I’m on both. Despite no diagnosis of an issue, after 5 mcs my clinic is throwing everything at me and it seems to be working. The fragmin (or clexane) doesn’t cross the placenta while the aspirin does.

I’m taking two low dose aspirin a day and the most important thing is to take it with ir soon after food to protect your stomach.

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/10/2018 13:52

How far along are you? The blood thinners are especially helpful as the placenta is growing.

StargazyDrifter · 27/10/2018 13:56

Silly question - what sort of brand/label do I look for in Boots? Does it say 'low dose'? Or is it normal tablets but smaller quantities? 🤔

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/10/2018 14:01

I don’t like the dispersive stuff as you have to dissolve it and drink it.

I’m on this www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/26699031

Just normal pills you swallow.

Thenameisweasley · 27/10/2018 14:09

There are multiple different strengths of clexane so no one apart from your doctor can answer this - we don't know your full history or other medications, please don't trust people on a forum before you check with your doctor

I’m 8 weeks pregnant, it was the epau that prescribed tinzaparin injections , she didn’t say it was dangerous to continue aspirin with the injections , she just didn’t see the need due to me self prescribing , also said it upsets stomachs. I think im going to continue it just incase. Defiantly not useing the forum instead of getting proper advice.

Stargazy that is the correct aspirin just make sure it’s 75mg also double check with your Docters if you want too.

Thanks annelovesgilbert that’s really helpful , how many weeks are you now ? Brilliant that it’s worked

20 weeks now. Starting to seem like it might actually happen Smile

I’m on 2500 fragmin twice a day, 150 aspirin (2 pills) and an awful lot of progesterone. No way of knowing what if any of it’s helping but I’ve had all the tests they can do, on me and two of the pregnancies, and nothing was found.

Wishing you every lucky for a happy, healthy, boring and uneventful pregnancy Smile

StargazyDrifter · 27/10/2018 16:56

Thanks very much, Anne and sh13 and fingers crossed all round for unadventurous pregnancies! (Mine is 4 weeks.)

Katiecausesmischief · 27/10/2018 21:23

I’m on 75mg aspirin (been trying for 10 years with multiple miscarriages) and on tinzaparin (2 injections a day) and have made it to 20 weeks👍
Gynaecologist recommended the aspirin as soon as I knew was pregnant in the hope it would make it stick.
I am now a pin cushion & think I rattle with all I take but if it results in a healthy baby I am good with that!
Good luck everyone x

Thank you everyone that’s given me so much hope! Amazing you’ve made it that far and it’s so deserved! Fc we all make it full term xx
