Just had my reminder in the post, but currently 26 weeks pg. Can you just defer until after you've given birth? Are there rules and regs about when you do it?

You can’t have it done when pregnant as the pregnancy hormones causes changes in the cells of the cervix. Just wait until after baby has arrived and then get it done.

This happened to me twice. I had my smear done at my 6/7 week postnatal check. Mention it to your midwife and she will put it in your notes that you are due post birth.

Mine was due but then found out I was pregnant so didn't get it done. Doesn't stop me getting texts and letters from my doctor every bloomin month telling me I'm overdue!

It won’t be done when you’re pregnant. Wait until at least 12 weeks after birth (ideally longer).

It shouldn’t be done at your postnatal check unless there’s a very good reason (eg previous abnormal smear).

They won't do it. I've had low grade CIN cells for years and was due my yearly smear at 6 weeks but I've just had a consultant monitor me throughout my pregnancy with a camera instead. She said the cervix during pregnancy is very different to usual and the results wouldn't be accurate.

TinyMarie · 27/10/2018 08:47

They told me it would be 3 months post birth.

Mine was due while pregnant, I spoke with the surgery and they said they would not do it while I was pregnant and to wait until at least 3 months after giving birth. I had it when DS was 4 months old.

Mine came through when I was pregnant.
They made me wait till I was 12 weeks post partum.
They actually sent me an earlier appointment for 10 weeks after having the baby and then refused to see me until after 12 weeks.
