Just cleaned the house from top to bottom. I'm 16 weeks and felt fine doing it but now I've stopped I'm in quite a lot of pain (my lower back) and feel like I might faint.

I really hope I haven't overdone it and potentially harmed my child.

FWIW I'm lying in bed now trying to catch my breath from the pain.

Yeah my back hurt around that gestation as well.
It would hurt for a few days as well, so take it easy for a while.

You won’t have hurt your baby, don’t worry. They’re very well protected in there!

You do have to listen to your body though, so feet up for the rest of the day!

Thank you both, I did wonder if I was being a bit dramatic but it's bloody scary this pregnancy stuff, ha!

Will definitely give myself the rest of the day off.

Thanks again x

I’m 23 weeks and get a really painful lower back if I’m on my feet for too long or if I’m proper going for it with cleaning for hours I think it’s pretty normal just make sure you take it easy the next day x

I guess we are all different but i only stopped doing things like heavy cleaning because I had a low placenta major. As I understand it they are pretty well protected in there especially at 16weeks they are pretty low down still: I wouldn’t worry mum xx

I loved nesting! Baby's 5months old now and the whole house is a tip Haloween Sad

Your more likely to hurt yourself than the baby. I did the same last weekend. For the first time in ages I felt great so I made the silly decision to get the lawn mower out. That was a big mistake. I went to have a nap afterwards and when I woke up I couldn't even get to the loo on my own. My hips completely seized up. It was sooooo painful. Just try do little bits at a time. I know it's hard when you're not used to sitting down and not doing anything but I've had to realise that I don't have choice or I'm going to really hurt myself.

The back ache is a bitch. I managed to cure myself of sciatica with some exercises from YouTube and now I’m getting pain much higher across my waist at the back, inside my right hip joint running up my groin when I walk too much and around my whole right bum cheek if I sit too long. 20 weeks and the various aches and pains keep moving around.

I did a massive bathroom clean the other day, felt fine at the time, good to keep active and all that, and then spent the next two days in pain from squatting to clean the floor.

Your baby will be absolutely fine but you need to take it easy! Your back and hips will be moving around to accommodate the baby and everything softens which makes it easier to hurt yourself.

Rest up. You’re growing a person.
