Birthing Ball at 40 weeks

Rooroo1012 · 25/10/2018 17:51

I’m 40 weeks on Saturday and baby’s head is no longer engaged.

I’ve just purchased a gym/birthing ball to help engagement.

Any tips on what I should do and how long I should use the ball?

I’ve also got a sweep booked for Saturday so really need his head engaged or I’m told they won’t do sweep. TIA

I just sat on mine at any given opportunity, I actually found it really comfortable. I'd have a little bounce while watching tv, kneel on the floor and lean over it while reading a magazine... unfortunately it made no difference for me, I used mine from 36 weeks but I was induced at 39 weeks due to gestational diabetes and baby was nowhere near ready, hopefully it will help you though as you're already at term! Sit on it as much as possible. Bounce on it while watching TV. Also walk as much as you can. There are some tricks like going up and down stairs sideways or walking with one foot on the pavement and one in the road that are meant to help get baby's head bumping your cervix.

Thanks for much for your advice. Desperate to get him lower as my sweep is tomorrow!
I’ll give it all a try x

I’m 31 weeks and basically sit on mine whenever I’m sitting down (apart from eating meals of course!). I find it a lot more comfortable and easier on my back than the sofa.

I've just finished a course of pregnancy yoga and to engage baby she recommended us to do hips swivels pushing forward and back in big rotations. General bouncing and swirling x

Thanks ladies. Will give it all a go
