Is my baby transverse - how to tell?

Hi all
I’ve got my 31 weeks midwife appt today at 11.50am so I’m hoping she will be able to tell me but I’m really worried baby is transverse.
My bump is like a scoop all gathered at the bottom and it’s hard as is baby is laying in a hammock.
When I lay on my side to sleep I get kicked or punched really hard by the side of my waist. Whichever side I lay on is the side he kicks me.
Any experience of whether this indicates baby is transverse.
Thanks in advance x

I'm nearly 32 weeks and DS lays transverse when he wants to.

When I'm up and walking about he goes back to cephalic and always is when a HCP palpates to see his position.

It's too early for them to engage and stay head down yet, don't worry.

How did the appt go @MagicalCreatures?

Hi
Thanks for asking, and for your comment.
Funnily enough, the midwife thinks he’s head down facing to my left. She’s even written Ceph on my notes along with 3/5ths palp.
Unless he’s moved within the last couple of nights because last Sunday I was sure he was transverse.
Fingers crossed he stays that way but they still have so much room to move around x

That's exactly the same as me!! Literally to the letter. How odd!

Conversely, today is the first day I've felt him push down in the 'directly downwards' position.
I get a very unusual 'pinch' feeling in my bladder when the head engages. It was only for a few seconds (where as DS1 it was constant for weeks because he engaged early and stayed engaged) but ever since then I've felt his head in the centre and his little butt is no longer under my right rib.

Haha really? How odd.
And yes im the same as you with the bladder thing.
He was definitely head down between 20 and 24 weeks because my scan confirmed it and I had this constant pinching in my bladder and an almost tapping right on my cervix. Then it all stopped.
Until yesterday when I felt it again x
