Anyone had a subchorionic hematoma?

Hi all,
Just looking for advice and outcomes for anyone who has been diagnosed with this?

The ultrasound tech said mine is bruising where the baby implanted causing a bleed and gave it this term.

I've read these often resolve themselves but is anyone else currently going through this?

My bleeding has tailed off but any time I strain I get that brown blood wipe, although nothing like the gush of red blood I had to begin with before the scan shown my bleed.

I'm just worried of the outcome and if it's effecting my baby in any way.

I'm currently 9 weeks.

Yes with 2 of my pregnancies I had bleeds at 8w due to SCH. All was fine and the EPU told me not to worry at all x

I had this in my pregnancy last year. I think I was about 17 weeks so quite a bit later. But it all righted itself and my tantrumming one year old is certainly healthy. I remember being really scared but the technician I had for my scan at the EPU was lovely and talked me through it. Old blood is fine but if you have any more fresh always get checked again.

I had a "very large haematoma" (quote from my notes - it was 578 cm at 12 weeks), and like you had a large gush of blood at about nine weeks, then ongoing mostly brown bleeding most of the time until 18 weeks. Was really worried (particularly given previous MC), but by 20 week scan it had shrunk to 511cm, and haven't had any bleeding since. Now 34 weeks and everything looks healthy.

My midwife said that the vast majority of cases resolve themselves and there isn't much you can do, although she did advise taking it easy physically as much as possible so no harm in putting your feet up if you can! Hope all goes well for you too. Flowers

Yes it was hideous... my bleeding was so bad that i was hospitalised.

I lost a twin , and my bleeding was so severe that the Consultant told me that they may need to "empty the product from the womb" if the bleeding put my health at risk.

I bled for weeeeeks.

My DS is a tiny bean amongst a massive haematoma , amazing really. He clung on for dear life and is truly my miracle .

It was our last attempt at IVF so it was a very traumatic time .

Yes, in my last 2 pregnancys. I bled for around 5 weeks both times. My 1st effected by a sch ended at 28 weeks, it can create a pathway for infection and my waters broke early. I also had one with this pregnancy but I'm already 35 weeks, which is a relief as i was worried sick when it happened again.

This is mine from the scan today it's 29mm not sure if that's big but sonographer said it's small and she's seen much bigger!

Unfortunately yes. It resulted in an infection of the placenta at 5 months. My understanding is that on the whole things are usually fine and that my husband and I were unlucky. Good luck.

Lovewinemorethanhusband · 27/10/2018 16:26

I currently have one and and at the moment 10+2 weeks pregnant, I've bleed constantly since I got pregnant and had one massive bleed but had lots off scans and reassurance that everything is ok, it's scary but my bleeding is slowly getting less and the scan I had on Friday said that it had shrunk a lot so hoping it will all stop soon

Waterdropsdown · 27/10/2018 16:36

Less than 3cm it should be fine, I presume that would be the largest measurement.

Ive had this 2 times - first time it was huge (size of a can of coke) which ultimately ended in miscarriage at 9 weeks ish a week after I first had bleeding. The bleeding was crazy - so much so when I went to epu they admitted me as the consultant said how would you get home bleeding this much.
Had one in my second pregnancy not nearly as big but first bled at 7 weeks and by 12 weeks both babies (twins) were bigger than the hematoma. Don’t think there was any post 12 week bleeding. Now have crazy almost 2 year olds.

PhoenixDown · 27/10/2018 16:44

I had one, think mine was about same size. I had 2 heavy bleeds, first one before I knew about the SCH at about 7 weeks - really heavy and painful with clots so assumed I'd miscarried. Was shocked to see the heartbeat at the scan after! Lots of spotting too. By 12 week scan it'd gone I think. Currently have huge bruiser of a 5 month old feeding on me so certainly not caused him any issues!

Hope all goes well for you OP it seems to be quite common, but defo terrifying to see all that blood isn't it x

kpeanut94 · 27/10/2018 16:59

It definitely has been a rollercoaster! Feel like I've been pregnant months and I'm only 9 weeks. :( I've paid for more private scans too since finding this out, it's draining.

Praying it shrinks.
My bleeding has tailed off now for about 5 days so hopefully it absorbs.

I think the worst part is feeling robbed of your pregnancy because you spend everyday worrying.

Xx

I had three big bleeds in the first trimester with my son. I think mine was the same size as yours and was from implantation. All was fine for me in the end.

LBNM19 · 27/10/2018 21:31

It is really worrying i felt panicked all the time. I visited the EPU a number of the times and they we're reassuring. Mine was bright red initially and tailed off to brown. X
