Hi so I am 40 +1 weeks pregnant my due date was yesterday and it came and went without anything other than the usual mild cramping and period pain feelings bump remained rock solid as is now the normal for it throughout the day and I went to bed feeling pretty fed up. Me and my OH had uhmmm relations at about 1am last night and then we both went to sleep. I awoke at 4am with my now usual need for a pee (every night at 4am without fail) however when I went to the toilet and I sleepily glanced at the tissue paper it was bright red much to my horror I kept wiping and it was still coming away covered in blood. Not sticky blood or blood looking blood like diluted watery bright red blood. I looked in the toilet and there was sure enough more of the same only with a pea sized clot. Naturally I panicked ran to bedroom woke OH whilst I frantically administered a sanitary towel but he said I shouldn't worry it's my bloody show. I agreed to wait until morning to call my midwife as the bleeding had stopped and after a while of making sure baby moving ok I drifted back to sleep... Woke next morning to no blood. Told midwife she agreed with OH saying it sounds like my "show" so I got on with the day. At about 2pm today I passed a lil more blood no more than a smear and had some very mild tightenings but that's it. So after this long gruesome essay my question is this... Is it normal to pass quite so much bright red/pink watery blood for your show and is it normal to not have contractions afterwards. Everyone I know assumed I'd go into labor but it's now 8pm and I don't feel any different to how I felt yesterday and the entire week before that and everyone keeps messaging me for updates and I feel like I'm kind of letting them down... Also do you think my waters may have broken at same time as show hence the dilutedness of the blood? I didn't think of that as a possibility when I spoke to midwife and am now worried I should've mentioned it... Thanks in advance sorry about the long post xx

Chances are that the blood was dilated with a bit of wee. When I had my bloody show it was following a sweep and very red. Four days later every time I went for a wee there were specks of red blood in my wee. Then the following morning my waters started to go in little gushes, I knew immediately it was my waters as they kept leaking everytime that I moved. When they went properly a few hours later it was like Niagara falls. Not sure if that helps you at all, but it sounds like things are on there way for you, just not as quickly as we would be led to believe
