I’m 7 weeks pregnant and have been having slowly increasing spotting & cramping. My GP just referred me to the early pregnancy unit but says it could be 72 hours before they contact me. I’m so upset and scared and 72 hours feels like forever. Anyone who is been in this situation what helped you with the waiting? :(

I’m so sorry, it’s horrible.

I played addictive computer games like crazy in all my free time. It was enough to give my mind something to do and it wasn’t going to remind me of what I was dealing with.

The waiting is terrible.

I lay in bed and watched every episode of Brooklyn 99 available on Netflix at the time and played stupid games on my phone. Anything to distract me.

Did you guys manage to function at work? I had to leave early today for GP and bloods and am worried about keeping it together tomorrow. I just want to know if it’s okay :(
Trying to stay positive but also know how common it is to miscarry at this point in pregnancy. Don’t know how to feel!

I initially called in sick for the 3 days (2 day wait and day of the scan) because I knew I'd be rubbish and I can self certify illness for up to 5 days. I ended up being off for the entire week (just before xmas) as I needed an emergency D&C. If you can, I'd recommend that but I know it's not always realistic. I have a friend who went into work as a distraction, ymmv.

The main thing is distraction, it never works 100% but constantly thinking about what's going on is tiring and stressful, neither of which are beneficial to you or the baby. I know it sounds a bit hippy-ish but i found some breathing exercises helped a little, especially when trying to sleep. Flowers

Personally I couldn't wait, I ended up going private. Rang that morning and got my scan later that afternoon £55 later but was so worth the reassurance and agonising wait.

I ended up booking a private scan and all is okay. There was a small bleed visible on the scan but he thought it’s just implantation bleeding :)

So glad all is okay!
This happened to me and is still happening to this day, my implantation bleed caused a bruising near the baby called a subchorionic hematoma so I bleed daily and just getting used to it :(

Hopefully now you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy :) I know the feeling of constant worry and it kept me off work last week ill. Getting the first 12 weeks out of the way is the hardest and seems to feel like a lifetime doesn't it.

Xx
