So after 20 weeks of being exhausted, ill and miserable I went to the doctors and had a breakdown and have been signed off for 2 weeks! I phoned work to speak to the charge nurse or a deputy but none were in so i asked to speak to the senior and explained that I had been signed off she asked me what for then said "ohh I wish I'd get away with that" i don't know whether to be upset, angry or just get over it! How bloody rude!!!!

S/he probably meant they wished they’d get away with a couple of weeks off work to rest.

I hope you feel better for having the time off and I really wouldn’t dwell on what was said anymore.

I don’t think you’re being too sensitive. I had a manager make snarky comments like that when she found out I had brought forward the date I was going on maternity leave. When you feel crappy and can’t work because of it the last thing you need is comments like that from people whether they are intended to be rude or not.
Try not to let it get to you too much though, sometimes people just don’t think! Take it easy for the next couple of weeks and I hope you feel better soon 😊
