Brown Spotting

Hi Ladies,

I'm hoping somebody can put my mind at ease. For the last couple of days, I've had an odd discharge, a bit lumpy. Then I've just wiped myself in the bathroom and it had spots of brown in there. I'm aware it means it's old blood, but what's worried me is everything I've read says sex can aggravate the cervix, but we haven't had sex for almost a week.

I'm just a bit panicked I'm going to lose the baby.

I'm 6+3 weeks.

@TokenGinger - I’m not going to lie to you, I don’t want to make you panic but I’ve had both good and bad outcomes with spotting.

I bled browny/pinky/reddy blood with DD between 6-7 weeks. It was just one bleed (that I can remember) and I don’t think we’d had sex recently for that to be a cause.
Anyway, I went for a scan at 7+4 and all was well, she’s 5 now.

I then had an early miscarriage between 4-6 weeks, probably nearer 5. This started with pink spotting and got heavier/more painful about the third day in.

I experienced some spotting in my last pregnancy before this one at 6+3 weeks and even had a small bleed with some tiny clots in. Managed to get a scan a 7 weeks and was told everything was fine. Put bleeding down to cervical ectropion (which I’m still sceptical about)

A few weeks later when I was supposedly 10 ish weeks I had another bleed but only made itsel apparent when I wiped, it was accompanied by ever so slight back pain and period type cramps. Had a scan a couple of days later which showed no heartbeat - the baby had died a week ago at 9+3.

So in conclusion it’s really hard to know, it’s quite 50/50.

Thank you, @Iswallowtoothpaste. I will keep an eye on it. I've been to the bathroom again and there's nothing there but I feel like I have period type pains. I am due another scan on Thursday so I will mention it there.

It's so hit and miss with spotting unfortunately, it can mean either good or bad. I had brown spotting with ectopic pregnancy, but was more like a brown period than spotting.

When I had brown spotting second pregnancy turned out to be fine and just a lot is implanting in the womb around this time so sometimes can cause spotting. Try not to worry, would an early scan reassure you?

I had to have a scan last Friday because I carry a genetic disorder, so they needed to date me so that they can do the required tests in the right timeframe, and I need to go for another scan this Thursday for checking, so hopefully I can hold out until then and that'll give me some reassurance x

I'm sure I was told brown was old blood if that makes any sense

@Alexandra2018 Yeh I think I've read that, too, so hopefully that's good news x
