stupid question about growth rates

In typical pregnancy anxiety style I am a bit unsure about the growth measurements. I had a gender scan at 16 week 3 days,

HC was measuring 16w4d (44.5%)
AC was measuring 16w4d (57.8%)
FL was measuring 15w6d (22.4%)

I believe FL is the thigh bone measurement - as it's a few days behind and lower in the % than the others, is it normal for them to grow at funky rates during early pregnancy? My genetic testing for downs/edwards etc. came back as low risk and my partner and I are both tall (5ft11 and 6ft1).

Thanks in advance :)

I posted about this recently too ... my 20 wk scan the hc & ac was measuring bang on and fl was measuring 6 days ahead .... get to 34 wk scan the hc & ac measuring ahead & fl measuring behind ... key panic stations but my consultant told me all was in normal ranges so was fine. Im trying to think different parts of them go through growth spurts at different times so trying not to panic!

yeah, I can't imagine they grow perfectly but I am a natural worrier!

Yes so am I, my son was born 11 years ago (big gap) & he was only 30th centile so im thinking i just dont grow big babies - i am 5ft6. Back then you didnt get to keep your maternity folder so was great as you couldnt read into anything!!

Measurements are never 100% accurate - they are measuring a three dimensional baby on two dimensional images - so there will always be some variation, don’t worry! They will measure you again at 20 weeks and arrange further scans if any concern but the measurements you have sound fine to me.

Just remember that a trained professional has looked at those measurements and not seen a problem. We don’t have the knowledge and training that they have. Easier said than done, but try not to worry over something that’s been seen by a health professional - who’s job it is to do these scans and look for abnormalities - who didn’t see anything wrong.

Honestly I wouldn’t worry. My daughter was measuring bang on dates for head and abdo but her legs were 3 weeks ahead of where they “should” be. She’s now a very long (off the scale long!!), slim 8mo. Even the sonographer laughed that I was going to give birth to a giant!! I know you say you’re both tall but definitely not unheard of for tall people to have short babies- I’m 6ft1 and my sister is almost a whole foot shorter than me. Our parents are both 5ft11. I guess baby is just doing their own thing! They’re good at that Grin
