cyclogest progestrone pessaries IVF

Hope someone can offer some advice. I’ve had my egg transfer today and have been taking cyclogest progestrone pessaries every morning and night (12 hours apart). But the clinic have only given me enough pessaries to last up to the day before I am due to take a pregnancy test, is this right? When looking through here it seems most people have the pessaries for 12 weeks?
Thank you 🤞

When I had my IVF they gave me enough pessaries to take me to OTD and then when I got my BFP they issued me another script to take me to 7 weeks, after my viability scan they said I didn't need to bother with them anymore. However some clinics don't even prescribe anything there was a few on our IVF thread who had no medications after trigger.

Thank you that’s really helpful!

I didn't have ivf but took mine till 14 weeks. I used the back door approach too. Got terrible thrush the first time using them vaginally. Just a tip incase you experience similar.

@Blueeyes18 think it depends on your trigger shot. I didn’t have the take anymore progesterone after my positive result.
Good luck! Xx

*to take anymore

I've got to take mine up to 10 weeks - currently at 8 +5. I had the same situation as you and they had a panic on to get me some more. I'd ring them up to make sure they are prepped better than my place was!! xxx

As per first poster I had enough to take me to OTD and then they gave me more to last til 9 weeks

Smile thank you all, I will give the clinic a call to make sure x

I was given them in stages as others have said, so got issued with more when I went for my test, and then more when I went for a scan. I ended up having to have 3 of the b*%&£rd things a day until 12 weeks. I did a mixture of vaginally/anally (make sure you use disposable liners if using vaginally as it’s very hard to get the greasy yuk off your pants!) as they made me constipated if up the bum but caused irritation the other way. The reason I had them for so long was that I had some early bleeding and low hcg levels, so hopefully this won’t happen to you. I should emphasise that all turned out well and I would do it all again in a heartbeat if needed, but for me this was one of the most unpleasant bits of IVF so if you find it not much fun then you are not weird or anything! Massive good luck for your cycle, and def just give your clinic a bell to check - they all have different protocols and some don’t use progesterone at all after implantation.
