Positive Tests 7 Days before AF

Hi Ladies,

Am looking for some advice, I have just found out I am pregnant, this is my first pregnancy, I am 38 and am utterly clueless because I never wanted kids before.

I have a 30 day cycle, and I think I ovulated around cd11-12 I have the CBAFM. I took one of the CBAFM tests 7 days before AF because I was due to go out for a few drinks that evening and was fully expecting the test to come back negative because it was so early and because the CBAFM tests only have a sensitivity of 50mlu. But no, it was positive and I nearly fell off the loo!

Because I thought it might be a dream, I did another the next day, and it gave me a positive result again, and because I am a stickler for thorough testing, I went to superdrug and bought a FRER and a clear blue digi and did those this morning (FRER was a light positive and, CBD was a 1-2 weeks positive) before ringing the doctors to ask them what to do next.

I have recently become aware of Chemical pregnancies, and I am worried about that.

I have to go to the doctors and fill in a form and wait for the midwife to get in touch but I am wondering whether I should wait until next week in case AF arrives on Friday.

What do you think? I can’t believe how anxious and emotional I am. It’s not like me at all.

I have attached pics of my tests for anyone who wants to have a nose.

Any advice gratefully received. Xx

Firstly-congratulations!

Treat yourself as pregnant until otherwise.. be positive rather than the doom n gloom of things. Get yourself into prenatal vitamins if you arnt already.

Keep your appointment, the midwife won't most likely see you till you're about 8 weeks so it's good to get on their books early so that all your appointments are scheduled within the optimum timeframes ( she'll book your scans etc)

Now.. relax, enjoy this fantastic news and be kind to yourself xx

Thank you so much for your kind words. I’ve been and filled in my forms at the GPs, discovered pregnacare is 3 for two in Superdrug, so I had to get some, and will be running myself a nice pampering bath later. Xx
