Higher than usual heart rate (Early Pregnancy)

Evening all, I'm currently 8 weeks 3 days and I had a nice afternoon nap today and woke up to what I can only describe as heart palpitations. So I checked my heart rate on my phone and it was at a scary 97! My body temperature also felt really high. I'm usually around 60-70 when I'm cleaning and things like that and the highest I've seen it is around 115 mid run. I don't feel stressed or anything like that.
I've checked it two hours later and still high with 96.
I have read that it can increase by 25% but just feels a little excessive.
Anyone got any experience with this or know if it's something I should be concerned about?

Mine is usually 62ish (resting)and shot up to 79 as soon as I was pregnant. Stayed around there until 12 weeks when it rose again to about 88. I'm now 19 weeks and it hovers around 85-88. When I'm up and about, it goes as high as 150 or so. Mentioned it to both doctors and midwife and they aren't remotely concerned. It's a bit of a shock to the system but normal xx

Also, a normal heart rate is considered to be about 60-100 so although 95 isn't normal for you, it's not unheard of. Your body is doing a huge amount making a new person and your blood volume increases enormously so your heart needs to work harder to pump it around. Just take it a bit more easy

Yeah thank you. I do have a low heart rate in general. It's spooked some medical professionals some times but they have always said I'm just a calm person.
I'll keep an eye on it and dig out my thermometer aswell and keep an eye on my body temperature because that's been high for a week or so now.

If it is really unusual for you it is worth talking to your GP about it though. Years back I was found to have a transient thyroid condition, picked up only because my resting heart rate had gone up to around 100, which was very high for me. (had max heart rate estimated at 120-130 during a research study when I was a student).

I remember being aware that my body temp seemed higher during pregnancy though. I became the one throwing the covers off the bed instead of the other way around!

Hopefully all is fine, but if anything else happens get yourself checked over pronto.

Mines usually around 70 and have just checked and it’s up to 100!!! I’m 8+1 today

It's crazy what your body does when pregnant isn't it!
I will definitely keep an eye on it at different stages of the day. I'm a student and had a meeting about some complaints that I had made. Was really stressed but was only 65 that was last week!

Yeah my OH mentions it every day about my body temperature. He said it was really high last night he couldn't sleep close to me. I don't have a midwife appointment for ages so I'll monitor it this week and if it's still high I'll pop in to my GP and speak to someone cus in also prone to UTIs so I don't want the temperature to be because of that and I miss it.

My heart rate is normally around 65, but has been in the mid 80s since I got pregnant. It's been as high as 120 before (only after exercising though). My midwife wasn't concerned, told me it's a normal part of pregnancy due to the increase in blood volume.

I've also noticed I've been feeling hotter than normal. I'm 20+1.

Lilbear14 · 22/10/2018 09:08

Thank you ladies.
I measured it before I went to bed last night (after a really intense conversation with a friend too) and I was at 65!! I will definitely be keeping a close eye on it this week.

Is your body temp actually high or do you just feel hot?

When I was pregnant I was always too hot, but my actually temperature was never up. That would indicate an infection so would need to be investigated.

I also had loads of problems with fast heart rate. My resting heart rate was very often 95-120 and about 150 when busy at work. I had loads of monitoring, a few overnight stays and lots of worrying but it was never anything abnormal. 3 days post delivery and the midwife checked me over, it was 80. And a week later back to 65-70.

Let your mid wife know but I wouldn't be too worried unless you feel faint or have any pains anywhere, or feel breathless.
