Please help. Could I be in labour?

I'm 37+4 and really suddenly have had 3x bad period pains lasting a minute or so every 10 mins for 40-90 seconds. It's only happened 3 times but is quite painful. I'm due to be induced in 2 days. Does this sound like the start of something? Labour? Normal?

Call your local birthing unit and speak to a midwife there. It could be nothing, it could be something... But speak to a medical professional asap.

Good luck

They're not picking up! ☹️

Do you have a Midwifes number you could try?

DeadDoorpost · 21/10/2018 00:53

You'll have to keep trying. Is there another number for your area at all? And do you have a contraction timer app on your phone? I downloaded one the night I went into labour. Helped me see the pattern (in the beginning) before they went haywire and left me unsure of how far along I was.

If the pains are getting stronger over time then sounds like labour to me! But the first 2 hours I wasn't sure. Hence the timer.

Got through. They said it sounds like early labour. To call back when every 3 minutes apart? My mum lives 3 hours away and is my birth partner. Her phone is off ☹️ anxiety central!

If it only happened three times it isn't labour. More like Braxton Hicks. When true labour starts it doesn't stop, it just keeps going . Call your midwife if you are concerned , but I'd guarantee you are not in labour yet. (I'm a midwife).

Canilla · 21/10/2018 01:20

@stellabird that was 3 times in the last half an hour. So I hadn't had any longer to experience any more. It's been approx every 10 minutes for 45-60 seconds for just under 2 hours now.

Shy update? How are you?

Canilla · 21/10/2018 07:26

@Kt2108 I've been having cramps all night. 10 mins apart lasting about 55 seconds each. Quite painful but not unbearable. Thanks for asking. I hope this doesn't go on for days...

@Canilla I meant 'any' oops!

Ah, it sounds long before it's even started! Try and keep your energy up xx
