Hello, having my first baby very soon and i know i will be bottle feeding, has anyone any reccomendations for formula? My midwife has advised they are all strictly regulated and can only come from 2 suppliers so everythings basically the same? I have an aldi local so was thinking of mamia but i am shamed to admit i was nearly swayed by the aptimil packaging...

Any helps appreciated 😊

Get Aldi, definitely. I'm fairly certain it's actually Aptamil, you'd be a mug to pay more for a brand when they all have the same nutritional content.

Start with the cheapest, then try others as you go if you run into poor feeding/colicky issues. I ended up using Aptamil but I believe they have changed the formula and next time I hope to use HiPP.

We started on cow and gate but recently have had major reflux issues, we were advised to try a different formula so we have moved on to SMA and it seems to be better. The GP has informed us it’s a little bit of trial and error.

Kendamil is very good, you can buy organic or non organic, you get discounts when you buy in bulk and they do next day delivery via DHL which is awesome.

Cow and Gate here. Used with my ds and will use with my second (currently pregnant). Love the premade stuff for emergencies too!

@donquixotedelamancha

Also, if organic is important to you- consider writing the word 'organic' on the milk tin and giving the extra money to charity. It has the same effect

😂😂😂😂

As PP mentioned not many hospitals actually provide formula . Ours advised us at our antenatal class to bring the starter packs of formula if anyone was planning to FF from the start.
They don't provide any formula or anywhere to sterilise or to make it so the little packs of premade bottles with the little sterilised prepackaged tips where recommended

We used Hipp from day 1, the only downside is that it's only available in larger supermarkets but easy enough to buy online anyway. Used the powder most of the time and the pre-mixed cartons to relieve any constipation as it's a little bit runnier. Worked great for us.

I use aldi Mamia formula for my dd 12 weeks. She did have some wind/colic for a few weeks but she was fine with colic drops and changing to anti colic bottles, never changed formula.

Used Cow and Gate as it was cheap. Baby got constipated, his poos were awful - runny and so stinky. Found that the formula didn't really mix well, really foamy after shaking and little bits stuck to the bottle. Moved to Hipp for 50p a box more. Mixes well, no foam, back to a poo a day. Trial and error I guess.

I have been advised that they are all strictly regulated and largely the same, and to use one that you can find at your local shop in an emergency
