Hi everyone, slightly (a lot) panicking. I had my 34 wk scan couple of weeks ago at 33+6 and femur length has went from measurig ahead at 20wk scan to measuring week behind at 34wks. Head & abdomen measurements measuring ahead. The FL was 63.1mm ... what was anyone elses measurement around 34 wks? i suppose i am looking for reassurance. I said to consultant & she said all was in normal range & was quite blunt.

Hi,
Whilst I can’t remember my lb femur length at 34 weeks I do remember he supposedly had a great big tummy (97th centile) with small legs (29th centile) and average head circumference.... so basically a buddha looking baby......cue major panic on my behalf!!
However I went on to give birth to a totally normal looking baby, no huge tummy and he actually had (still has) long legs!!
The ultrasounds are just a snapshot of that moment in time, your baby will have different growth spurts at different times. Plus scans are notoriously inaccurate for measuring.
As hard as it is (and I’ve been there!) please try not to worry. If there had been a problem the consultant would have been concerned.
Xx

Hi, please try not to worry. I have had 4 growth scans since my 20 week. One at 26 weeks,29 weeks, 32 weeks and finally 35 weeks. Each scan the measurments changed so much and I got myself so freaked out. However they have all evened out in the end. But my point being...if I had just looked at one of the scans...at times some measurments were ahead then other times they were behind. For example, the femur measurment at my 26 week scan was 79th centile,it was 84th centile on my 29 week scan then went down to 55th centile 32 week scan and then back up to 89th centile on 35 week scan (68.2mm). His head circumference was 87th centile on the 26 week scan....and it was the 38th centile on my 29 week scan which terrified me. However...again this has all evened out. I guess my point is...they are right...if it's in the right ranges then try not to worry about anything else. I wish I had not worried about all the individual measurments as in hindsight they didn't mean anything as all the body parts grow at different times and have growth spurts at different times. Yours sound totally normal x
