I'm 32+5 and for the last 6 days I've been having period type pains. I believe I lost a bit of my plug last Saturday, however I know that this can regenerate. I'm having frequent BH, these aren't painful but have increased in frequency the last few days. Baby's moving okay. Is it normal to have an increase in period type pains at this stage? I was last pregnant ten years ago and can't remember.

I would ring you MW/antenatal unit and ask. I was told period cramps can be preterm labour.

I'd definitely go and get checked - I had similar and ended up giving birth at 30 weeks

The answer to that question is always yes.

My labour started as period pains... the BH... are you sure these aren't mild contractions? My contractions weren't painful to start but built up in intensity.

I'm sure you know your body better than anyone else but if you're worried or have any doubts, call your midwife... it can't hurt to ask.

Good luck

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go and get checked. The BH are coming more frequently however there's no pattern to them and no pain.. just the normal tightening feeling in my uterus. I've lost no more mucous it's just the period cramping that's making me question it.. and I was thinking it might be round ligament pain but I don't normally get that continuously..

If your concerned which clearly you are I would get checked out, first thing to do is give them a call and tell them what you have told us, they will make an assessment whether they need to bring you in or not.. Hope everything is alright x

Called labour and delivery and was told to take a paracetamol and wait an hour.. have taken some. Getting back pain in waves now too, but there's no definitive pattern to it

Keep in touch with them. Contractions for me felt like period pains to start with, and then contractions through my back - I never got them over my bump as such.
