Thyroxine in pregnancy

Hi all,

For many years I have been taking levothyroxine to treat my Hashimotos hypothyroidism. My latest blood tests have been good.
However, now I'm 6 weeks pregnant and the hospital I have been referred has said the waiting time to see an endocrinologist can be between 6-8 weeks.
I'm very worried as I don't know if the dose I'm taking now is the correct one now that I'm pregnant. I don't want the baby to be affected negatively.
I've spoken with the gp practice and there is no much they can do other than ask for an urgent appointment.
I'm thinking on seeing a private endo at this point.
Has anyone been through something similar? I need some advice here
Thanks!!

I got my gp to test. Tsh needs to be under 2.5 (ideally under 2) and t4 on the higher end of normal.

As soon as I found out I was pregnant my GP doubled my dose.

Can you GP run a blood test for you levels? At least then you will know what they are and can change your dose accordingly.

It might be worth calling up in case you can get a cancellation appointment with the specialist too?

Once you've booked in at the hospital they will probably refer you to see a consultant. I'm under active and have had an increase in dosage from 50mg to 100mg they'll do regular blood checks too every 6 weeks I think

Thank you for your messages.
I'be just had a consultation with an endocrinologist (private) and I'm waiting for the blood test results. He said I shouldn't worry as my levels a few months before pregnancy were great and maybe depending on the results he might increase a bit or not.
Hopefully, whatever happens, the 6 week wait till the appointment with the hospital should be ok for then have another test
