20 week scan

Hey all
I'm 20 weeks today and have my scan tomorrow.
I feel the same as my 12 week scan....excited but really anxious. I've had some crampy type pains (nothing that lasts long-just ligament type pain) and a fair amount of discharge but have been checked out and the midwife/hospital are happy with what's happening.

So, I don't really know why I'm posting. How did everyone else's go? I'm well aware of what goes on with an anomaly scan (and I know they don't tell you the gender here), but just wondering if anyone else had the nervousness x

I've got mine tomorrow too, will think of you Smile

Been manic at work which is helping but I'm excited to see them again and nervous about what it'll show, the usual mix of pre appointment emotion!

What time's yours?

bubblybrit · 18/10/2018 16:31

I had a private scan at 10 weeks then the standard scans at 12 and 20 weeks. I was nervous before each one of them. Think it is quite common. Wasn’t able to relax until I was told that everything was ok. I then enjoyed watching baby wriggle knowing that she was doing well!

I’m 23 weeks now but still considering another private scan in Dec for reassurance as it’s a long time between 23 weeks and when the baby is born.

Congrats on your pregnancy by the way xx

Up until my 20week scan I had such bad anxiety. Worried about every little twinge and before the scans I was a nervous wreck and even sat up crying the night before convinced I’d be told there was a problem.
Everything was totally fine and honestly after that scan I settled right down.
Started to feel the baby move about 23/24 weeks and after that the movement provides reassurance that all’s ok. Now I’m 29 weeks I feel huge, can’t sleep, have spd so can’t walk and just feel crap. It’s a rollercoaster of emotional but will be worth it in the end. Try and keep busy until the scan keep your mind off it xx

@AnneLovesGilbert oooh were in the same boat! I'm at 1130, you?

@bubblybrit I was the same before each scan. I'm glad I'm not the only one....although I completely understand why you'd go for an extra one! It feels like it's been forever since my 12 week one! Haha

@Harrypotterfan1604 thank you for the reply. That's exactly how I feel too!
Tbh I'm off work tomorrow but have quite a big list of things that need done in the house so I'll have plenty to keep me busy.
I hope your SPD etc doesn't cause you too much pain ❤️

@DannyWallace. My 12 week scan was a little early and my 20 week scan a little late so it felt like forever between appointments. Agree with @Harrypotterfan1604 that I feel much better now that I can feel the baby moving x

Harrypotterfan1604 · 18/10/2018 16:57

You will spend weeks desperate to feel the baby move I now spend time telling my bump off saying please stop kicking so hard 😂😂

DannyWallace · 18/10/2018 19:11

@bubblybrit @Harrypotterfan1604
Thanks to both of you! Yup, there's little flutters going on, but no definite big kicks yet and you're right, I can't wait to feel them properly ❤️.
Thanks so much for the reassurance. I hope everything's going well for you both ❤️

Good luck Danny, sending all the vibes Smile

I was sure I'd replied last night but it's not here! Mine's at 4.

I haven't had any movements yet but heard the hb at consultant check up last week so hoping all's well.

SlightDark · 19/10/2018 11:51

I’m so excited to hear !

Angharad07 · 19/10/2018 12:08

I asked the gender in my 20wk scan and the sonographer looked for me :)

AnneLovesGilbert · 19/10/2018 12:52

Hope you got on well @DannyWallace

DannyWallace · 19/10/2018 12:52

Thanks for all your lovely messages! Scan appeared to go very well. Took a while to get a proper look at the heart, but I got up, baby changed position and we saw it fine after that.

I’ve got mine on weds and I’m so nervous! Had a healthy pregnancy with my first followed by 2 miscarriages, so finding it hard to accept all is going well this time! Feeling every ache, pain and twinge the last few days. Help! How can I stay sane?!
