So I've been a bit of an idiot! Me and DH had a MMC confirmed September 13th had it medically managed, followed by heavy bleeding clots, cramps you name it, it happened.

Well today whilst in B and M bargains I noted the pregnancy test strips and realised "oh shit Storm, you should have tested 2 weeks ago" picked one up.

Came home used afternoon wee in a cup, dipped that bad boy in, and then...sat and watched 2 lines develop....dark lines may I add not a squinter at all.

Holy fucking shit...what do I do? Who do I call, yes I've had unprotected sex since but isn't that too soon after...what if it's retained products, what will they do, do I need surgery?

I'm in an absolute panic and tiz, rang DH who said "I don't know what to do?!" Thanks love...

Help me mumsnet. Who is my point of call? Who do I talk to??

I would call my gp in this situation unless you are still under the care of the early pregnancy unit for you mmc. Sorry for your loss Flowers

holycityzoo · 18/10/2018 14:54

You could well be pregnant again you need a blood test that will be repeated in a few days to see if you hcg levels are rising.
This happened to me twice. I had mc no period then pregnant again.
Both were healthy pregnancies that stuck!
I panicked exactly like you, phone the gp ASAP and get things rolling.

And I'm sorry for your loss

My emojis aren't working sorry there was meant to flowers on the end of that x

Sorry for your loss.

If you have an understanding EPAS unit I'd go there. They scanned me retained tissue, found some and arranged surgery for me.

If there's a chance you're pregnant management will no doubt be different. They may want to keep an eye on you in terms of bleeding and infection and maybe scan again later to see if there is a new pregnancy.

Are you well in yourself? (sorry if that's a hard question, perfectly normal to feel rubbish after a loss) Have you had any more bleeding or spotting or pain?

StormCloudsDoClear · 18/10/2018 15:15

Thank you for your replies, I've ring the GP who is contacting the EPU for me and emergency gynea. GP will call me back when she has a plan...she's really lovely and has been managing me for my recent PTSD diagnosis (not pregnancy related) so hopefully I'll know soon.

I've been well, full of energy no problems the odd bout of brown spotting which I expected but I did have a gush of bright red blood the other day, but this was after ummm pretty "exuberant sex" 😂😂 sorry don't know how to put it politely, but I just thought maybe cervix is still a bit sensitive.

But now I don't know, I'm guessing retained products, took a year to conceive my loss so no way am I lucky enough to have caught again so quick.

I'm petrified of surgery I know this is totally irrational for a full grown woman but I am.

Fuck...

I've just peed on another test with only a 2-3 hour gap and it's a strong positive too.

Oh what a mess 😣

GP has arranged a scan at EPU tomorrow morning at 9am, any ideas what I should expect?

Sorry OP I don't really have much advice but just wanted to bump this thread a bit for you.
So sorry for your loss and I hope this scan gives you some answers

MintRolls · 19/10/2018 09:30

Just seen your update and you're probably getting scanned now. Hope it all goes well. The EPU staff tend to be amazing in my experience, I hope you're okay and being looked after.

StormCloudsDoClear · 19/10/2018 10:24

Morning all thought I'd update...so I'm booked in for a d and c on Monday at 9am. I have quite a bit of retained products and a clot measuring 5cm.

Joyful, I am really worried about it have no faith in the ward I'm being admitted to and also I have violent reactions to GA. Basically when I wake up, I am nasty, I've been restrained and re sedated before. 😣

At least it explains the positive pregnancy test still, and I'm trying to look at the brightside that if I have the d and c it should then all be over and we can move on to fertility treatment in the new year.

Sorry to hear your update OP. I hope you have a better experience on the ward this time and everything gets sorted for you. Thanks
