Hi ladies

I'm 23 weeks and wondering if maybe I'm developing GD. My reasons being, the last few mornings during the morning school runs iv been feeling very breathy and feel like iv a racing heart.. feel like I need to sit down.

Today I didn't have my breakfast as we were running late and I was absolutely fine, however iv now come home and had my usual breakfast and can already feel me getting what feels like a rapid heart rate.

For reference I have homemade porridge with soy milk with strawberries and banana on top.

Does this sound like I'm getting a sugar spike that might be related to GD or something else unrelated?

My bmi is 30 so I'm right on the cusp of high risk though I'm taller at 5,8 so Midwife wasn't too worried.

Any thoughts/advice

It is common to get heart palpitations and out of breath when you're pregnant. I had GD and I would feel sleepy and sluggish if my blood sugar was too high and after eating and faint if it was too low or I hadn't eaten. I'm not sure if they can check it before 28 weeks, as that's when it becomes apparent. I passed the 28 week check but did have it and I felt awful I couldn't even move I felt so foggy and tired. Have you had your blood pressure checked recently? May be worth chatting to your midwife see what she thinks.

Thanks @Instacrumb doesn't sound like I do then. Yes I had my bp checked on Tuesday and all was good with that.

Maybe just a pregnancy quirk for me then - sweet

It could also be anaemia. Mention to your midwife?
