Sorry for the possible TMI...me and my partner haven't had sex since I was about 20 weeks pregnant as I bled slightly after we last tried and it spooked us both even though everything is fine.

I'm now 38 weeks and would love to try and have sex with him he has been so patient and not once mentioned it but I would love to try before baby arrives. I am just paranoid that so late in the pregnancy it may cause harm or cause something to happen to little one and I would never forgive myself. Also, what positions are safe this late on? I'm so concerned and don't want to do myself or little one any harm.

If anyone has any advice or suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Thank you xx

It is safe, just find a position that is comfortable for you! Obviously not lying on your back.

Unless your waters have broken then sex is safe. Position-wise go for whatever's comfortable but if you lie flat on your back then your blood pressure may drop and leave you feeling faint.

I’m 31 weeks and we’ve had pretty regular sex throughout.

Me on top is slightly easier with bump. Sometimes we go for me on my back but it’s a bit harder to navigate around the bump that way. Spooning works too.

Remember that if you feel uncomfortable at any point, you can stop. It should be enjoyable still :)

Don't worry, bleeding is so totally common after sex during pregnancy!

Give it a go, relax and enjoy yourselves.

Also you're now term, so even if sex did kick start things your baby would be all fine and developed.

Have fun 😉

It won't do any harm and you can do it in whatever position feels comfortable. It's normal and harmless to have slight bleeding after sex in pregnancy because your cervix is more delicate and full of new blood vessels.
