Third Trimester Gestastional Diabetes. Glucose tests clear, bloods normal. Birthing options?

Hi all,

My wife has just come back from her 30 week endocrine appointment where she was expecting to be signed off as she’d had her second glucose tolerance test last week and it came back with perfect results. Her bloods are all at normal levels and she is diet controlled since day 1 and only considered diabetic due to her having it with our first (again entirely diet controlled). At the last endocrine appointment she was told if her GT came back clear then she’d be signed off. Today she was seen by a different doctor who hummed and hahhed and eventually decided to ask her to come back again in 4 weeks.

My wife is distraught, she lost 3 stone since our last child and every doctor we’ve spoken too have praised her and can’t believe all the hard work she’s done.

So to the real question... she’s worried that she’s going to be treated as a Gestational diabetes patient all the way to the delivery or so close to it that she won’t get to discuss her options. She had a bad time with our first and she would like to have some semblance of a normal birthing experience if possible this time. So has anyone else been in a similar situation? Is there a certain point you can pass that if you’re still considered a GD patient, that you can’t discuss birth plans etc? We have an appointment with her consultant next week, is there anything we should bring up then?

Any and all help greatly appreciated!!!
