Name changed for this as I feel really strange and upset and don't want this post connected to any of my others (I don't even want to be writing it and am really gutted). I think I'm about 8 weeks pregnant - took a test last week after realising I'd not had a period for a long time and it was positive! Worked out I am now 8 weeks pregnant. I'm currently not in the UK and haven't been to a doctor yet (planned to go when I return in a couple of weeks). Well I've just got to pee and noticed I had passed a large clot of blood. It seemed to be only one (although when I wipe it is still a little pink). Sorry for TMI. Anyway I'm really gutted and feel like this must mean I have miscarried, right? I have very light cramping but no more so than in my last pregnancy (this would be my second).

Please help! Did anyone experience anything like this and go on to have a healthy baby? Or should I assume all is lost? 😔💔 Should add that it's nighttime where I am so even if I do go to a doctor (which will be really difficult) it won't be until tomorrow anyway. Just wanted some reassurance or if not to prepare myself for the worst.

With the best will in the world, posting in the pregnancy forum will serve you much better. This question is posed often there and the answer is it can be an early miscarriage but might not be and some women bleed right through their periods and have a healthy baby. You need to go to a doctor to learn more.

*pregnancies, not periods. Sigh.

It might be a miscarriage. It might be that you've lost one of twins. It might be that you're still pregnant but just bleeding for some reason. Can you see a doctor where you are? Particularly if you'll be flying, you'll want to see someone to be checked over first. Good luck and I hope your baby is ok.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I did consider posting elsewhere but went with this one in the end purely as people seem to reply more. I can't go to the doctor until tomorrow at the earliest so was really just hoping for some hope, really😔

Me. At seven weeks pregnant. But I also had a fair bit of bleeding as well as the clot.
At eight weeks a scan revealed I hadn’t lost the baby.
They could never work out whether it was a failed twin pregnancy, a fibroid or a subchorionic haemorrhage. Or just one of those things.

Anyway he’s currently at school so all was well.

I hope everything works out ok for you but yes it was very scary
💐🤞🏻

One clot and a little bleeding doesn't mean inevitable miscarriage. If it goes on, I'm afraid it probably is one. So I hope it doesn't! Mine was a healthy baby (she's all grown up now) after a scare like this.

One website I have found says, "But then, you also need to know that most of the women experience bleeding and blood clots at the early stage of pregnancy and still give birth to healthy babies." Another says, "About 20% of women have some bleeding during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy." and another "The seriousness depends on the cause and the trimester of pregnancy. They are of greater concern in the second and third trimesters than in the first and are more likely to lead to an emergency situation then."

I would ask a doctor about it anyway, when you can more easily get hold of one, but not get too despairing overnight; it may well be nothing to worry about.

Hi there OP,

We can you see you meant to post in AIBU, but if you would like us to move it to another board, let us know and we'd be to move it somewhere you might get more support.

AnyaMumsnet · 17/10/2018 17:04

Hi there everyone,

We're moving this to Pregnancy at OP's request

Tinkerbell89 · 17/10/2018 17:13

It could be implantation bleeding. If you get a bleed like a period it could be a miscarriage. Really you need to go to the doctor she arrange an early internal scan if you're worried. Hope all goes well for you
