Having a bit of a low day on the conception journey today as ovulation yet again has not showed up when it was supposed to and I am looking at another long cycle.

I would love to hear your bfp stories with long irregular cycles (if there are any) as I need a bit of positivity right now. Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

Hey! I came across this post whilst looking for something else. Funny how our worries just change over time, as 5 years ago conception with irregular periods was my constant googling frenzy. Safe to say, I’ve had 4 pregnancies since then (2 kidlings and now pregnant) so it’s really possible to get pregnant. Just takes a bit of understanding.

I swear by the pregnacare conception tablets, clearblue ovulation sticks (dual hormone) and patience...it was expensive doing it but it meant I had all those positive results.

Just need to remember that you’ll get there eventually, just the journey may be longer. Best of luck x

I have cycles that range from 35 (which has been my shortest anyway) up to 72 odd days. I was diagnosed with PCOS and could not track ovulation at all because of it! No ovulation sticks worked for me and some months I didn't ovulate anyway!

We were finally given some clomid and I took 50mg the first cycle.

On day 21 we were told I hadn't ovulated with the clomid (based on bloods taken) so we thought we just had to plod through this cycle so we could start again the next one.

I got to day 86 (which was longer than Normal but not that out of the ordinary for me) and we were waiting for a call from the fertility centre to induce a period. My husband and I thought I had better take a pregnancy test just in case they asked me if I had taken one prior to inducing a period. We were shocked (obviously exceptionally good shocked!) to see a result of pregnant when I took the test.

We found out I was actually 11+3 weeks pregnant and we hadn't realised due to my long irregular cycles (I am now 14 + 3).

For us clomid 50mg worked and got us our little miracle.

So there is hope with irregular cycles (for a long time I felt like there wasn't! But there is!)

I had one period in a year. I bought many ovulation strips and never got a positive result. I assumed I had fertility issues but am sat here right now feeding my 10 week old DD.

The cycle I conceived on (and I’m 31 weeks currently) I conceived on cycle day 33, so had I not conceived that cycle could’ve been anywhere from 39-45 days for me.

The cycle before that, I ovulated on day 92 and period arrived on day 100.

The cycle before that was 56 days. Literally no pattern whatsoever. I had all the blood tests and an internal ultrasound which confirmed polycystic ovaries (but not PCOS, bloods were fine).

I have no idea what did it for me - I actually conceived on holiday and was drunk most of that week! I had been drinking a daily glass of pink grapefruit juice that cycle though so who knows?!

Just wanted to say you can definitely get your BFP with crazy irregular cycles. Sending luck!

My cycles were all over the place. Some months 25 days some 42. We tried for ages before reaslising I ovulated really late (about 5 days before the end of each month). Just when we were about to start IVF (after 2.5 years of trying) we got pregnant ‘naturally’.

This time round, post first baby and giving up breast feeding, I was having 2 week periods every 2 weeks for over a year. This time we got pregnant first month of trying (although I’m only 11 weeks but hoping for the best!). Wasn’t sure we’d have any chance when my cycles were so short.

Thank you all for your amazing stories, I can't tell you how much better they have made me feel. Congratulations to you on your dc's, fingers crossed it will happen for me soon. 🤞🏻

I had cycles between 4 weeks and 8 weeks, PCOS. Conceived within the first three cycles both times, but when a cycle is double the usual time it just took a lot of waiting and DTD just in case. So much DTD 😂 we never knew when we were ovulating. Also bought lots of cheap preggo tests online as never knew when my two week wait or period was due. Dating my second pregnancy was difficult (had been a 7-8 week cycle) as noone believed me, always asked for last period date but I tried to say it wouldn't be accurate and perhaps delay scams by a few weeks. Was ignored, lonand behold, had to repeat scan a few weeks later. It was as if I couldn't possibly understand how my own cycles worked...

A bit of a long reply but hope it helps my first son i had after 7 years of ttc with help of provera and clomid finally had our 1st then we tried again with help of clomid and it worked straight away.then we so wanted 3rd and we so wanted a princess so the journey of ttc started but after rounds of clomid and no periods relying on provera to get 3 periods at least a year so 5 yrs went by nothing was working then we went on to injections that didnt work after 10 years of trying and getting upset putting weight on aswel and was getting sick of timing ovulation and having every vitamin going and then we went for iui that also failed so after 11 yrs of ttc thought enough is enough started to do zumba classes and legs bums and tums and was really enjoying it i went down to size 16 from a 20 we was due to go on holiday i had a natural 4 day period before we went on hols in august 2016 came bk carried in my classes eating healthy after xmas in 2017 in march i had bad uti nurse insisted to do pregnancy test which i wasnt happy because amount of negatives in 12 years was enough but bang was positive straight away was in complete meltdown and tears but dr sent me for early scan straight away as i had bleed next day so we had scan and bang another shock i was 6 months pregnant so that little period i had before holiday we concieved naturally on holiday. Yes, I have pcos & extremely irregular cycles lasting 100+ days sown cycles. My hormones were very unbalanced & my body was really struggling to ovulate although trying hard, so I was prescribed Clomid & conceived first cycle! Although quite late in the cycle (around day 40)so I had given up & was awaiting instructions for what to do next.

Sometimes your body just needs that little push. Good luck - hope you get your positive very soon :)
